I just now pulled off my tape and wrap job....and the bleeding has stopped. All nails (40 of them) ..2 dogs...are no longer hitting the floor. Next time I am going to have the vet cut them. This has put me off for a long time!!!!!
Even though it was just one nail out of that many, I know how it feels when a nail gets cut too close or ripped of my own hand.
My Poor, poor 100 pound baby! Not a whimper out of him!

I hate dog nails. I'd rather do 10 cats than 1 dog with black nails.
I see your avatar has a Dobie pic - if they're Dobies, were you aware that bleeding/clotting problems are common for the breed? Some Dobie owners I used to know used those little hand held rotary grinders to grind off nails so they wouldn't have to clip them.
I am lucky a girlfriend of mine will clip my dogs nails. I am just too scared to do it.
I clipped a birds claws too close and thought I killed it.

I was not aware Dobes had clotting problems, and now I am scared. I took off the bandage, everything seemed fine and suddenly the kitchen was covered in blood. I had to re-wrap him, and give him a pill to sleep.

I would feel so badly also. You clearly have a great heart for you pup, and in a short time all will be forgiven by him esp as you take super care of him.

Yes, my son did the same thing with his cocker spaniel. My wife and I have been very careful and fortunate with ours. I know how you feel.
