Well, I'm white. I'm the best dancer in the world...always was since I was 12, cause I went to school dances where Black people taught me how. ha ha. I have street cred....But I'll rat you out in a hot minute if you do something wrong to me...let's see, what else. Oh, yeah. When I was in the "truth
" I saw some mighty hot brothers. And I mean "brothers". Act's white. I have NO IDEA what that means....Disregard this whole message in fact!

This is my personal experience and your experience may be different, (YMMV). So if my post makes you unhappy, I'm sorry but don't negate my experience..

Well you know, the last legal (TV) prejudice and butt of racial slurs is the poor of all races, esp poor whites. You can make all the racial slurs and degrading remarks you want, and no one will take you off the air or fire you. Poor whites are often treated with contempt , and growing up here in the south, poor whites had the same social status as blacks or Mexicans of any social level.

Long ago, when I was in my 20's we had to receive food stamps for a while, (hubby lost job was out of work for 1 1/2yrs.) While applying for help, a young black man, approx my age, noticed I was doing the shuffle and had my eyes lowered for the government employee. He asked me why I was doing that, he said, "you're white, you don't have to do that" I said," yes I'm white but I'm poor, so they hate me just as much as they hate you' He said, "my God, they own the world". I just kept quiet and continued with my shuffe and downward gaze.

That depends on what you mean by "acting white".

He said, "my God, they own the world". I just kept quiet and continued with my shuffe and downward gaze.

What did you think of that comment, Wednesday?

Terms like "white trash" are insulting. It's a white person's way of disguising racism.
A person is "white trash" because only non-whites would do what he/she does and
    keep their self respect. RACISM.

Take the wikipedia definition out of it as being racist and what you have left is what many of us clearly understand. It is not a racist comment but a classist comment and used to put down anyone who happens to be poor and white. Heavy on the word poor. The poor are reviled by society - regardless of color. The poor and uneducated end up with a double whammy against them. When Katrina hit, rather than turn it into a color issue, it was clearly an issue of poverty - there may simply have been more of one color in that geographic location than another. I think any of the terms bandied about 'too white'..'not black enough'..acting white or black'..trailer trash'...poor white trash...they all serve only to separate and do nothing to elevate. sammieswife.

People are funny. I wish we all had the ability to laugh at ourselves and our stereotypes.
