What do you think really happened with this Elder?

Is it unusual to wear pink as a guy or tie pins and cuff links over there? Its kind of common here...

Us white Americans tend to be uptight about these. Many have a problem with pink and
purple. Some have a problem with any jewelry beyond the wedding ring and watch. Still,
if someone notes that someone has no problem or enjoys these things, they might be
noticing that they deliberately have some "flair" in their style.

The elders know that he has done and is still capable of doing something that could bring major disgrace to the religion. Just as well he won't have a position of power if child molestation is an issue. If THAT is the issue though, there should be some notice given (and with his permission if he is truly repentant!) to the congregation and community.

Remember the big deal article about the child molester who wanted to join a church and the reception he got? He admitted it, I think and dealt with the consequences. Christian forgiveness is one thing-but who wants to forget something like that when there are innocent children involved?

I live in the southern US -- home of country boys. This uncle of mine is from Ohio. I have no idea if his behavior is normal for a different culture.

I don't think sleeping with a guy is what happened because my grandpa did that and he's a MS. Not saying he didn't -- I just don't think that gayness is what got him the ban from ever being an elder again.

I have no idea who he cheated with (male/female/child)

(((hugs!!))) There's not enough sympathy in the world for people who are color blind.

And have you noticed that they are trying to sell us cufflinks there at the bottom now? LOL

Can anyone confirm that there is only one possibility as to why someone would never be allowed to be an elder again?

The obvious is the child molester bit, seriously that's probably the most glaring thing sticking out here. There could be other things too though, maybe he had a gay affair and admitted to the elders that he can't get rid of the urge. I don't know about how it would be handled normally, but this could be something that might have caused the elders to cross him off their potential list.

Also the kind of guy who would wear peach or pink and not think anything about it. He would wear cuff-links and tie tacks and rings.

Maybe he refused to stop wearing this stuff when giving public talks.

I considered that he sexually harassed a sister. I guess I need to conclude that it could have been something else and there is no way to know for sure. Its quite suspicious that he was a child molestor though.

My dad said, "He will not be allowed to ever be an elder again."

What could one possibly do that would cause that door to slam shut forever? Apparently something that even repentance couldn't fix - ?

I tend to think in this situation that child molestation is the issue. If he is gay, that could be a possible reason to disqualify him, but since you werent allowed to stay overnight, that speaks volumes

. As for the pink thing, I grew up in Ohio in the 80's and no straight guy would ever wear pink. That would be like having a big sign around your neck that says "Im gay". However, alot of JW men wore pink shirts, and even pink ties. Most JW's I knew didnt have a hangup about this. I dont wear pink, because it just simply isnt cool for a guy around here, or most places I have lived, to wear it. I would wear pink for a special cause such as a breast cancer awareness marathon.

but anyway back to the subject, from what you mention, it seems to me that child molestation is the issue with him.
