I remember this actually took place in Germany. I was told when visiting a friend of mine there. In his congregation a family won the lottery. They were of course branded as weak. The prize money was well in the scope of 500,000 dollars. So it could not be hidden. They also had a handicapped child. They got away with a public reproorf. (I was secretly happy for them, since this money definitely would easen their burden). My mother stated when I told her this, I would gladly have accepted a public reproof for that money... I remember in their earliest years they even took part in some money games involving soccer (do not know the English term for it)... But when dad climbed the steps of the theocratic ladder, this was stopped...
If you would have won lots of money playing lottery as a JW...

When I was Jw, I didnt play the lottery. I dont know if thats because, I was such a good JW or there was no lottery. Back in the 70's and early 80's lotteries were not as prevelant as they are today. The Florida lottery didnt start til 86.

I can't imagine ever playing lotto, let alone as a JW. I've heard it described as a tax for the dumb. That said, I have made plans for the $33 million I'll win if I ever get around to buying a ticket.
I'd have probably donated it to WBTS. I was a weiner like that.
