I used #1 on my son at the K Hall. A very loud (but, therefore not too smelly) eruption was immediately followed by me leaning over and whispering something into my daydreaming son's ear. He took the fall and was never the wiser until we got home and I 'fessed up.
Mea Culpa. Perhaps a few minutes in Hades are in my future.
