That must have been really scary, but i'm glad you're ok now. Although trust you to still make being ill funny, lol. I hate the going through immigration bit too it always takes so long. But you're right there are always LOADS of good-looking guys in the queue too, so it does help to pass the time.
I'm glad you're feeling at home now, and that you have a nice bar to find refuge in.
Enjoy the rest of your trip and I hope you're going to turn this thread into the chronicles of crumpet.
5go - my goodness who rained on your parade? such anger and negativity...
hey crumplestiltskin ........one corona!!!!....one coro-!!!...one!!!! and then bed.....the spirit of oliver reed is alive and well I see....muhahaha.....just kidding ...have a good time and tell the condemned to enjoy their last hours of freedom....
“The flight started off well, but I got over Greenland and suddenly got very ill - high temperature, and nausea. I called the flight attendants who moved to the back and in the process I fainted.”
You poor dear. I hope you are all right now.
“Next thing I knew half an hour had passed…”
There are better ways to pass the time while in flight… reading magazines, looking out the windows, sleeping… etc.
“Anyway after a while I was okay to go back to my new row - which I got all to myself.”
…cause no one wanted to be near you?
“…crazy for two miles…”
Okay. Are you SURE it was only 2 miles? Or did it just look that was on the map? Distances here in the states – especially in Texas, California and Las Vegas are deceptive. What may look like only 2 miles on a map may actually be more like 20. (Remember… we’re not talking kilometers here… we’re talking miles.)
I once made the mistake of thinking that I could simply walk from the airport to the motel I was staying at in San Jose, California. It only looked like it was about ‘2’ miles from the airport on the map. So, I didn’t get a car rental. Just getting out of the San Jose airport was about 2 miles! I walked over to a car rental, carrying my briefcase and luggage, that just happened to be outside the front gate, and walked in the front door and asked if I could get a rental car. You should’ve seen their faces. It was priceless. They were looking at me like… ‘Where did you come from?’ (Of course, I probably looked like a sight – all huffing and puffing after walking the 2 miles)
I had a good laugh over that one. I barely got there in time, as they were just getting ready to close for the day, too.
As someone else has suggested, see if there is a shuttle bus from your hotel to the airport. If there isn’t – go next door to the Sheraton – and see if THEY have one. Most likely they do – and you should be able to get a lift from them (show a bit of cleavage – that always works… unless it’s a gal… {voice trails off}).
Oh – also – it was probably your accent that gave you away as not being from here. You might try to throw in a few ‘G-days’ and ‘mate’ here and there – folks will think you are from Australia, and give you all sorts of discounts. (KIDDING!!! – no offense meant to either British or Australian folks)
“…its 11.30 pm my time and its been a long day…”
A tip on traveling. When you get a chance – slip into your swimsuit (or bikini – or whatever) and go down to the hot tub and sit a while. For some reason, I’ve discovered that doing this ‘resets’ the body clock, and you should be able to adapt to the time change more easily.
“…no one mentioned the humidity!”
It ain’t humid in Dallas. If you want to experience humidity, go to Houston, TX. Now, THAT’s humid!
I hope you enjoy your stay while here in Texas, Nina. There are a lot of nice folks up there in Dallas that will take really good care of you while you’re here (Lisa - aka Arrowstar - is one of them).
I would say ‘stay out of trouble’, but that would take all the fun out of your stay.
Someone up there – take her to Razzou’s for lunch or dinner. She will enjoy the Cajun atmosphere there. Plus – get her one of them alligator drinks.
Regards,
Jim TX
I noticed she hasn't posted again... I wonder if she got picked up by a baptist cowboy willing to make that fantasy come true.
