Hi Amanda, I live in Wichita. Yep, nothing but weather reports on the news! People have been calling in to the new's stations thinking that they were seeing a "wall cloud" even I thought it was a wall cloud. The weathercaster said it was a "shelf cloud". Oh well! Both cloud formations look scary to me! I'll have to look up the difference between the two to see how they behave!

Oh boy, it looks like the tornado is going towards Oklahoma...I have a good friend that lives there. Has anyone heard when it's suppose to hit? I was watching the news after I seen this thread on the Kansas tornado and I'm now concern for her.

I feel so sad for those people that are dealing with all of this. Especially for the 8 that are now confirmed dead. So glad you and your family are ok MsMcDucket.

I'm so scared of tornado's...my parents and I lived in Texas for about 2 years, a tornado took our house so my family said "that's enough, we're going back to Ohio. I so remember being pushed under a couch that my parents turned upside down...it took our roof off...I was only about 4 years old. Ever since I've been so frightened of storms.

What a scarey thing to have so close to your house...YIKES!

I am a amatuer radio operator that was the reason I got into it at the age of 13 but quickly got out of it. I am afraid of lightning much less tornadoes. That and I was never good at it.

I don't blame you! I've seen the power of the winds in Kansas! I don't care for lightening either! Or hail!

Well we got lots of flooding here in the middle of Kansas ( sorry can't say where exactly) but about 90 miles west of wichita. 10 inches of rain accordign to the weather report. No tornados.. yet ( crosses fingers)

We did see a couple of roofs ripped off of patios though. I guess that must have been just the wind.

My husband and I left the crawfest early, because we had a 2 1/2 hour drive, and our town in Oklahome, was under a tornado warning, and our teenage daughter, who had been on a school trip, had just gotten home, was by herself. We were more concerned than she was.

All is fine, daughter, home, and town. We were going through Bonham Texas, and saw the wall cloud. Scary stuff, especially a day after a whole town was wiped out.

Loosie everytime I hear of flooding, I think of the family that got washed off the road around Cassidy, Ks. Only the husband survived. He lost his wife and kids.

Helen Hunt missed this one! The weather science guys have a new rating system. The tornado that hit Greensburg was rated EF-5. I guess that's the worst tornado on the scale. Kansas has had two F-5's this year!
