In view of the breathtaking mistakes made by the governing body in the last 10 years, the time has come for all with influence in or out of the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses to ask for the resignation of the entire governing body.
In the past 5 years alone, we have seen the defacto president of the Watchtower Society, Theodore Jarascz, dismiss reporters from the BBC without addressing their questions about sex abuse; they have denied repeatedly that there is a problem in the 2 witness to sex abuse policy; they have arranged the excommunication of whistleblowers in the organization, implying that they are spiritually deficient or worse.
Thousands of members of this fellowship have been sexually abused by family or friends in the group, only to be told that it didn't happen, that they misunderstood it, and if they could not produce a second witness or the accused confessed, they were told that they must be silent or face shunning.
ALL of this allowing clever abusers to amass a trail of victims.
Now we see the sad public results of both the failed policy and the denial that followed: the legal corporation that is responsible for all that is printed by "Jehovah's Witnesses", for all policy, for all doctrine; THIS corporation has lost a legal claim for protection under clergy confidentiality, and has taken the unprecedented move of paying out to victims who have filed suit against them.
To add to this list of failures, they have decided to continue the policy of containment and oppression, demanding that the parties involved be silenced and prevented from discussing the settlement.
The time for silence is past. The Watchtower will NOT be forthcoming in this matter; they have not admitted that they paid out, and avow their abhorrence for child abuse without spelling out any changes in the policy.
Please, all on this board who are members, in or out of the congregations, or at Bethel: join me in finding a high profile way to DEMAND the resignation of this shameful group of men.

DEMAND THE RESIGNATION OF THE GOVERNING BODY

THIS corporation has lost a legal fight to keep their database of accused molesters private
Are you sure about that? I hope you're right, although, I thought a prime reason for the 16 settlements and for the so-called "gag" rule was to maintain the secrecy of the pedophile database; usually that's what settlements are all about - damage control. Anyway, I don't know for sure, just asking . . .

Small problem, in this "corporation" there are millions of voting members that are very pleased with the performance of the Governing Body. The catch is, if you are not very pleased, you are kicked out of the corporation.
I don't think they'll be resigning anytime soon. -

Well, they've been making mistakes for a lot longer than 10 years.
Jaracz was on in 1975, and Barr and Losch had joined by the time
of the generation change in 1995.However, I doubt they'd resign. That would mean admitting they had
made mistakes, and that isn't their way. If anything goes wrong, they
always blame the brothers. -

I say:
Let them be.
They are making their eternal beds.

It's easier said than done, the reason why their position is so solid is precisely because they are a very dictatorial lot and do not allow the least freedom of speech when it comes to criticising their doctrines and their behaviour in general. Their local whip boys enforce that policy.
As for their child abuse policy it's calculated to evade the danger of them having to pay out a lot compensations to victims, hence the expulsion of the whistle blowers whom they perceived as threatening to lose them money by their activism. It's all about money.
The GB will lose control when the dubs wake up in large numbers.

Would it even matter if the whole GB resigned?
They gave up control of the corporations years ago. Other people are legally running things now.

Yes it would make a difference. To suggest it wouldn't is as dumb as suggesting that if the entire Board of a major world corporation resigned it would make no difference. It would have ramifications all the way down the foodchain. The GB still control the teachings and interpretations. Was it the lawyers who made all the interpretational changes in 1995? The Watchtower Lawyers appear to be acting as a significant constraint against change rather than running the organisation per se.
Good call Pistoff. You really are Pistoff, like me and thousands of others.
Sadly the prospect of the GB being held accountable for their wicked policies is about as likely as the Pope being sacked for the sins of the Catholic Church. The GB have elevated themselves to an almost deified status in the minds of the flock. They are practically beyond reproach to 99% of dubbies. -

The call for resignation, if it could be a national letter to the editor campaign, may shock enough witnesses awake that the issue of child abuse would really be discussed.
And it may make them realize that it really is just a committee, a board of directors, that is running the lives of 6 million people.
And badly at that.
