I wish I had posted this earlier so you guys could have gone to school this week to check it out, but the KM school was a long winded plea plea for cash donations, reminding us that "Jehovah will be grateful".

How I wanted to raise my hand and ask if the great need was related to paying off the child molestors or ask what happened to the$100s of millions from the property sale, or ask why they needed money after kicking out all the Bethelites (two booted Bethel couples in the congo)

Anyway you guys missed a good laugh. If anyone wants I'll post the KM magazine.

After waiting for the wife to go to bed so that I could sneak a scan it dawns upon me that my KM rag is not in English.

That's pretty damn stupid of me!

One figure I remember from the plea for cash is that the Worldwide Ministry costs $110 Mil per year to run (also from the 2005 YB) and that most of the Assemblies are run at a deficit.

I know for a fact that the latter is pure BS. The Assemblies have been a cash cow for the WTBS back since the 19 Teen days of the photo-drama which was the fore-runner of the Assembly.

That reminds me, where can I find KMs on the net so that I can download? Havn't been to a meeting in some time and not getting my copy.

    Would appreciate much!

Boy, that sounds like a nice waste of everyone's time! I'm sure they didn't think children that have to be at school the next day, including those who have tests that day, have better things to do than spend the whole evening listening to some crap about how they need everyone to donate even more money to support pedophiles and take Web sites that are critical of the organization down.

How do they come up with that figure when every single JW that goes door-to-door does so as an UNPAID VOLUNTEER, using their gas, wear and tear on their vehicles, paying for their clothing to participate, using their time and resources... and the WTS has the sheer audacity to say it costs the WTS money?

Excuse me for shouting but my bull$h!t detector just went into Red Alert mode.

$18.50 per publisher, per year...? Not bad.

It costs only $110 million to run? What the %$! At that rate, they are never coming down: they make more than $950 million in the same year! This means they make $840 million per year in profits. Where is the IRS when you need them?

Worse, that $110 million isn't even their money. The publishers have to waste their time, gas, cars, Kingdumb Hell construction material and labor, and energy to do this work. And they have to foot the dry cleaning bills themselves, which can be $16 per suit per time. When added up, those dry cleaning bills alone add up to about $800 per publisher per year, assuming you get one suit dry cleaned per publisher per week. (That number could be even higher if they have to stay out longer, resulting in getting suits "dirty" more often.) And the Watchtower Society doesn't take care of those bills!

Other expenses that the publishers have to foot themselves:
Car bills. If they drive 90 miles per day in the city, they will burn about 10 gallons of gas in one of those "theocraptic 4-door sedans doing stop and go. If gas is $3 a gallon, that adds up to $30 a day. If they go out in service every day for a year, that is more than $10,000 a year for gas alone. Add wear and depreciation on the vehicle, and you can easily top $25,000 per year on car bills.

Suits. These average about 90 cleanings in life expectancy. Expect to pay about $400 a suit and replace one every year, plus spend about $1500 a year cleaning it. Add to that $50 on shoes, $25 on shirts (more if they keep flipflopping the color requirements), $40 on accessories like belts and ties, $50 or more on service bags, $20 on call book filler paper and pens, $6 on a call holder, and $5 for travel tissue. Accessories can add up to another $200 or more per year.

Meals. The average meal at McDonalds costs about $5 these days (the days of things costing under $1 are long gone). Some pioneers can eat there every single day, adding another $1800 per year on food that is actually poison that is processed to make it taste better. Which adds to future medical bills, which the publishers are supposed to foot as well.

Cold medication. Instead of staying in bed for a cold, they have to take medicine and go out in service and to the meetings anyway. This costs an average of $10 per cold per person. Because cold medicine does not reduce the risk of complications, it can be even more. And Witlesses are exposed to more colds and flus at the door, so they can get 4 or 5 of them per year where they might have only gotten 2 or 3 otherwise.

And that doesn't even factor in "voluntary" donations of money to the Worldwide Pedophile Protection Work, the wasted time spent on doing this, or the energy wasted that could have been used to create some value for society. And they have the audacity to ask the people to pony up more money to support this value-destroying parasite that wants them to waste their time and even more money spreading the cancer around more of society. I think I would rather go out and buy a Game Boy or Nintendo DS, the latest Pokemon game (I hear Diamond and Pearl are hot), a Ouija board, and the latest Christmas decorations I can find. At least I can enjoy them, regardless of their meaning.

Well someone doesn't know how to shop.

I have never paid more than $150 for a suit in all my life and never will.

I have never paid more than $10 to dry clean a suit, usually I'd hang up my suits in the bathroom while I shower and the steam helps to clean them..or leave them out if you have overnight fog then let the morning sun dry them.

$25 on shirts...ever hear of Walmart, Target et al? There must be Sally Ann Thrift stores in the states, I know there are Good Will stores. Fact is that you can get all the stuff you mentioned above and for far less than the prices you quote, it just requires a little ingenuity. :-)
