JWD support and comfort for those in need

I don't know how you feel but I am pleased to be part of a community that cares about fellow members. Although we may not know individuals in person, we get a "sense" of many of our fellow posters especially if we have been here for any length of time.

Several of our fellow posters have experienced terrible tragedies that result in financial nightmares.

I don't know how all of you feel, but I would rather give directly to someone in need than through a charity. I would rather give here than to a world wide witnessing fund!

My point being is if you read about someone in need here and you feel comfortable enough, consider sending something direct to a fellow XJW than a blanket donation to another charity. We are here to support each other and we can do it in more ways than one.

    Just a thought.

I think that's a fantastic idea, Restrangled. I've been thinking the same thing recently, when I read about fellow posters that are in need and I have wanted to be able to help, even if it's a really small contribution.

Thank you, r., for walking the walk!

Let us not love [merely] in word but in deed and truth. When I hear JW kith and kin speak so glowingly of the WWW of the WT, I wanna say - and sometimes do - "Your ailing and poor fellow-dubs need $$$-help, not the ORG!" The generally good-hearted JWs I know are open-handed and quite willing and ready to share.
You are absolutely correct, r., about us members of JWD needing to be perceptive to the genuine needs of one another, while necessarily exercising a measure of caution. However, mercy triumphs over judgment, so I guess I'd rather err on the side of kindness than cold and calculating skepticism.
Thanks for all that you and others of JWD do!

    Coco,

You are amazing! Your heart shines through......in more ways than one, its why you do what you do with educating children in the arts.

When someone has a problem, pray in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up first.

    Forget prayer, send the benjamins.

I have personally felt and witnessed the help and support of the JWD community and I for one am extremely grateful for that, i think its really good to think along those lines restrangled. A great deal of the help given here is emotional support and experience, but to support financially is a great idea also.

Like I said in another thread, "What goes around comes around" and I have never seen this to fail. We never know what will befall us personally and how we treat others along the way will come back to haunt us whether positive or negative.

So what we do today may haunt us tomorrow.

Prayers are greatly appreciated but so are other responses if you are able.

Take care all and for those of us able to contribute, may we do so, hoping we will not need the same ourselves someday.

Thank you, Restrangled. I agree. I always help directly, with meals, housework, money, support and even through volunteer work, or taking in the grandkids. Over the years I have given haven in my home to three nephews and various other relatives and friends. My mother died in my arms. I wanted to offer her the greatest comfort when she passed on.
