Last week my brother's wife (he's a young elder) had their second baby, a little girl. He was good enough to let me know by phone text message, which will be the last thing I ever hear from him unless they keep breeding. Yesterday I got an email from mum, which had on it this email exchange... apologise for what might feel like an intrusion into their privacy, but, you know....

    ________________________________________________________________
First up: the email that mum, proud new grandmother, sent out to everybody in her life except me:

    ________________________________________________________________
    Subject: Ain't she cute ?
Meet the new granddaughter (name) (photo) (cute jellybean html stationery)

    ________________________________________________________________
Next: reply from interstate friend, I think mum helped to recruit her into baptism a couple of decades ago:

Hope you are well and life is good, I think of you guys and often wonder how you both are going. We are ok, I have a lot to tell you but not today, I love you

Subject: RE: Ain't she cute ? OK if you come down to Sydney, we'll go for lunch somewhere, just work out your nanna duties and squeeze me in on a day that suits the grand children, after all they're in charge now! How is everyone, hubby is well I hope, how's Sass_My_Frass, is she back? I hope so! We are all ok, the boys are growing and so is their appetite..... I have much to tell you too, my beautiful baby girl left us and Jehovah just over a week now and hubby and I are devastated...it's better that I say it now so when we meet up, I will have my tears under control. She was never baptised so we will still allow some contact, but I feel my heart has been shredded, stomped on and spat out, the hurt and betrayal is terrible. Jehovah and our precious spiritual family have been wonderful and that keeps me crying too because we are so over whelmed with messages of love and support, how could we ever live without Jehovah! So, with that said and out of the way.... (some basic catchup plans) ________________________________________________________________
Next: Mum just forwarded the whole lot to me without adding anything, just changed the subject: ________________________________________________________________
Subject: Seems we are not the only ones who have died inside ... ________________________________________________________________ I got it at work, and read it backwards (with email adding new entries at the top, I read from the top down). I took the bait. I forwarded it to Mr Frass and was preparing a lengthy reply when he replied, telling me that she's just picking a fight and that I shouldn't reply. It was then that I scrolled down to the bottom and noticed the photos of the babies, and figured that I should just not play the game. Thanks for the photos, what a gorgeous little jelly beans they are. You'll have a great time in Sydney. Much love to you both That's it. Discarding what I'd written already was liberating. There's no point even talking about it anymore, it doesn't get us anywhere. Everything I say is wrong. All I have left is civility, and that's just so I feel good about myself. I think, if I wanted to return punch for punch, I probably did anyway, because they'll be upset that I didn't address their multitudinous issues, and probably also upset that she'd forgotten to delete the photos from the email when I'm supposed to be suffering in an information vacuum. She'll probably pretend she was throwing me a bone, and tell all her non-JW people who think this is appalling that 'Yes, we sent Sass photos. It was her choice.' I'm glad for the disfellowhipping. If it hadn't happened, I'd be taking this kind of thing from dozens of other delusionals.

Forgot to say: the new mum (JW sister-in-law) lost 3L of blood during birth. I think that's about half of what she'd have in her body. I'll bet they're all so proud of her. What a freak show.

Oh Sass - I don't know what to say. It must hurt. Dubs think it's only their feelings that count (but I think you know that). I think your response was marvellous.

3L of blood? That's over 5 pints! How did you find this out? I'd think it's a Dub-exaggeration (they like to exaggerate any blood issues, to justify their 'belief')

That's good news about your sister, Sass. Her not getting baptised
means she has gor away relatively unscathed I guess, at least the
rest of the family can still talk to her. It was a good response from
you to your mum as well.

Seems we are not the only ones who have died inside ...

There is something missing from the minds of JWs. You did the best thing by that simple reply, just ignoring their insanity and replying like a normal person.

PUKEY! They are so self absorbed and self deceiving like this is a tragedy that happened to them - not that they chose and inflicted on themselves. sick sick sick! Congratulations on your liberation honey! Its so tempting to pander to their sickness but I am where you are now and won't bite either!

I'm worried about the young mother. She will be at risk for serious health issues for some time.

Yes, all that self-inflicted pain from "martyred" mothers. I see they manage to up some sympathy at the hall. I wonder if they will ever come to full terms with what they have thrown away?
