I have a strawberry Pie recipe that makes even not very sweet berries taste good...and it is easy.

Take a ready to bake pie crust, bake it and let cool.

In a sauce pan mix 1 cup water 3/4 cups sugar 1/2 small box strawberry jello 2 heaping TBS cornstarch (I mix the cornstach with some of the water to disolve first)

Heat on med-high till thickens a bit....then let cool completely (I put the pan in a sink of ice) and add to 1 lb cut up berries. Pour into pie shell and chill 2 hours....top with cool whip.

    It is so refreshing!

Wow I'm stunned to read this. Things are SOOOOO different in California. The strawberries this year are particularly good. I don't know what I'd do without fresh and tasty strawberries!

I don't know if it's all the rain we have been getting or what but it seems like this year all the fruit I have gotten has been AMAZING! Everything is sweet and juicy. I'm lovin it!

We're coming up on strawberry season here in Oregon. If you can get them at the farmer's market or roadside stands, they're the best strawberrys you'll ever have.

I stayed a summer in Oregon when I was a kid and we went cherry picking. Best cherries I ever had....plus I didn't have to mortgage the house to buy them.

We always did strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and peaches. We had both cherry and apple trees in our yard, so none of those since we could just go in the backyard and eat them off the tree. :)

"What do you put on your strawberries, Brother 'Prominent'?"

"I like sugar and cream on mine."

"Back home at the farm we used to put chicken manure on ours."

True story I heard from Brother X at Bethel. He was telling us younger, goggle-eyed newbies about his audacious question to one of the head honchos at headquarters, circa 1970. He received sour looks for his chicken-s*** rejoinder and is now a very prominent "apostate."

Well... just south of San Antonio, Texas is a city named Poteet. It is known for growing strawberries. Each year in April there is a strawberry festival.

I have eaten Poteet strawberries, and they are tart - not sweet. I have also eaten California strawberries, and they are sweet (not tart).

Whenever my wife and I are strolling the festival, it is a tradition to get some sort of strawberry dish. The strawberries taste sweet... I am thinking that they have 'imported' the strawberries from California. Which means that they have exported the Poteet strawberries to... ??? Perhaps you are getting them there where you are at.

Of course in Poteet, they don't let on that they import the strawberries for the festival. But if you go outside the fairgrounds and find a local who grows the berries and purchase some from them, you will usually put two and two together and figure it out.

    mmmmm, I love strawberries!!

There are a ton of pick your own farms around here. As kids my mom used to take us out every year to pick. There is nothing like plucking a nice red, ripe, juicy strawberry from the vine, warm from the sun, and popping it in your mouth, having the juice run down your chin!! YUMMMM

Now, I'm a bit lazier. I go out to the farms still, but buy ones that have already been picked for me . I freeze most of them - I love to make smoothies all winter long with the berries. And I make jam.

That reminds me - I still have some jam from last year, and in another month our berries will be ready. Anybody want some jam????
