Look at the way Christ treats His church today and you see how men should treat their women.

Real men treat their women as side-by-side partners.

Most of the men in the JW cult treat their women from the top down just like a dictatorship.

That sums it up for me.

Men have brains, vision & power (even though most of the dub males think with the wrong head )

    Women have ovaries.

Rutherford clearly stated women were a "bag of bones & a hank of hair." One older gal in the congregation in the mid-70's was still complaining/resentful about that but still stuck in the WTS.

Women are more likely to make decisions by emotions than men.

The watchtower teachings pull very hard on emotions. Out of all the members I would say that there are more women that truly believe than men. Men get to climb the power ladder and get respect just for having a title.

It is a great place for women to dress up and look nice and to gossip on the sidelines if they are so inclined. While the religion preaches subservience, my observations were that most JW women just let their power hungry husbands think they are in charge.

This doesn't take into account husbands that are naturally abusive, but those would be abusive regardless of religion. JW teachings just empower abusive mates.

I had another woman tell me once that even if it wasn't "the truth" she would still be a part of it because it ensured she had a faithful husband. Yes, she was naive.

My eldest sister has managed to get herself into a position with a lot of clout for a "sister". She also gets free travel, free accomodiations and loads of other perks while being able to boss people around (something she excels at). So I suppose for some women it's not so bad.

Great point!!!!I I have always been dismayed about the status of women in the borg..If anything, that alone proves that the religion is manmade crap..Imagine,thinking that women are not as capable as men in making decisions and all..someone on another thread pointed out that if women were elders, itd be a gentler, more humane religion in the disipline aspect..I believe this is true, altho at the time i believe that it was said tongue in cheek...ive been to a few meetings lately, and the women are stepford women..docile,gray and meek..not one of them stands up straight..like i said b4,either obese baby makers or small grey withered quiet husks..and truly, women are so much more than that..maybe its different in other areas, but this is what i observed first hand here in my area.i am writing a book on the subject, and trying to be objective about what I see...Its very very interesting to come back in as an adult, and see it thru an adults eyes...

Nothing is in it for women becuase... let's face it... a)we live in a patriarchal world because b)the bible is apparently "infallable" and was written in a time when women were not considered persons and c)the witnesses base thier doctrine and practice on centuries old dogma found in the bible so therefore... I feel I should point out... d) Junia or Junias (accusative case: ???????) is mentioned in the Epistle to the Romans 16:7 as "of note among the apostles" (KJV, RSV). Some Christians take the name to be that of a woman, and see it as proof that Saint Paul encouraged female leaders in the Church. In this interpretation, Junia would be the only recorded female apostle. I think it would be great to pull this one out of your hat (ie. headcovering) the next time they ask you to put on a head covering. Simply whine and say "Junia didn't have to."

A person without a penis is terribly incapable of looking and talking directly at an audience...

Sometimes a person with a penis is completely incapable of making direct eye contact with his audience, because hs is so easily distracted.

I can't believe that they printed such a f*cked up article as that... I wonder if the study about brain size correlating with intelligence was disproved at that time or not...? Not that they would have printed actual up to date scientific information even if it WAS available...

Those fools need to stay out of science and medicine...

I spent my entire time in the "organization" listening to sisters talk about being dominated by their husbands. Going out in field service during the week with married sisters can be very eye opening. There were so many ridiculous stories. One sister had to wear dresses down to her ankles. Her Elder husband thought that women's knees were ugly. One sister had 4 kids, no help from her Elder hubby, but he would wake her up all night long for more sex. But she had to give her husband "his due". She looked exhausted and sickly all the time. Some sisters were physically and emotionally abused.

I dated a lot of young brothers, but would never get serious. Between what I heard from the sisters and the platform, your chances were pretty high that you would have a dominating husband. Not only can they dominate, but they have scriptures to prove they can get away with it. The elders will support the husband. My opinion was that once you got married, the only way out of a bad marriage was death, or someone needs to commit adultery. Hopefully, it's him, (but it will be your fault because you weren't a good wife).

I hope I didn't offend anyone, but that's how I grew up as a sister in the congregation.

Well as a woman raised in the "truth" I never had any issues with the way I was treated, all the brothers were so nice! : ) And very handsome, but that was my congregation!
