Do You Think The Leaders Of The Watchtower Truly Believe What They Say?

Does the Governing Body and its helpers REALLY believe what they teach? There's so much emphasis on the Great Tribulation, once again, I wonder if THEY believe that the End is soooooo close. I know some of the "faithful" believe everything hook, line and sinker. Are the GB leaders truly taken in by their positions that they too believe this bullsh#t??

thing is, even if they dont believe it, they're not gonna rock the gravy train.

too much position and power at stake. so how can anyone know what they truly believe?

Some cult "leaders" do, some don't. Same at the WTS. Some abused women are actually convinced they should be abused and some of the abusers believe it was right for them to do so....seriously.

    I didn't see that thread.

The truth is, I think these new guys need to prove something to the politburo. They might even be more extreme than the oldsters. I dunno.

    Hey Minimouse,

Per Ray Franz, NHK admitted he wasn't sure about 1914, Lyman Swingle retorted in feisty fashion to another that we JWs got the dates, etc. 'lock, stock and barrel' from the Second Adventist, 1957 was proposed by some GB members as an alternative to 1914. And 1914 is "God's date"?
Danny's post on conventions in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, off and on THROUGH 2013! Is the end near, or soon, or around the corner?
    Could have fooled me!

But do these men truly believe because of holy spirit that they are chosen and hence being used by Jehovah?

I very much doubt it - I think they've been overtaken with 'Worldly' pursuits/preoccupations (the WTBTS being more of a Business than a Religion)

    Good question minimus!

I offer my own personal experience only to shed light on your query.

I was twice assigned talks on District Convention programs after my mind and heart were fully "apostate". The first I gave, the second, two years later, I declined as I was planning to "step down" prior to the date of the DC. That experience made clear to me that the concept of "the spirit-directed organization" was a joke.

If a current member of the GB was appointed whilst having serious doubts or engaging in gross wrongdoing, I don't see how they could believe in their own "spirit-directed" appointment. But I suppose one can rationalize just about anything.

I wouldn't think that a GB member would have serious doubts about their being in the "Truth". I think they could easily rationalize that since the torch has been passed to them that they have the right to make changes based upon their communal understanding and 2/3rds vote has been taken.
