Are you referring to my not knowing that Barry was both, or that is just another lie???
The lie .....
I see Kent hasn't posted yet. Any time Kent would be great.
I am really not liking this new system.

I'm sorry, German JW,
but what is "David Brown's text"? Did I miss something?
Hawkaw,
What WERE the Boyz in Brooklyn thinking!!!???? And then to offer such lame excuses? Can they really expect this to die down anytime soon? As jt says -- the paper trail will be their undoing.
Excellent detective work, hawk, and excellent reasoning, wannahelp!

Scans are not showing this time, Kent -- just red boxes.
However, for those who cannot wait for a fix here on Simon's board, the letters are up at Kent's site right now.

Oh, I see the text quotes David Brown but responsible is Tom Howell.
:-)
I'm not sure if this has been sited in this thread yet, but I came across something very interesting on the www.jw-media.org site! Note the UN stuff toward the end (yea, we ride the beast too!)!!! I guess involvement with the UN should be viewed as a "civic activity," for "Christ himself emphasized the unselfish giving that is to be expressed by not expecting any service in return."
Jehovah's Witnesses in the Public Eye --
see: http://www.jw-media.org/releases/010704.htm
Partial quotes:
...
First, on May 11, 2001, in response to an Enquete Commission demand, Jehovah's Witnesses submitted a document containing their viewpoint on the subject "The Future of Civic Activities." In that seven-page document they stated: "The necessity of voluntary commitment for fellow humans is deepened through Christian understanding. Religious service and civil commitment therefore are directly associated . . . [Jesus] Christ himself emphasized the unselfish giving that is to be expressed by not expecting any service in return."
...
More material on that subject is featured in a July 2001 issue of the internationally published magazine Awake! that deals with volunteerism, relevant to the United Nations proclaiming the International Year of Volunteers. This magazine is available free of charge for those wishing to read more on the subject.
