Here in the Philippines, one of the most common, special occasion dishes is called "dinogo-an".

Commonly known in the west as blood pudding.

The southern variety, particularily from Mindanao, is very spicey (hot enough to burn the paint off a Buick), and it is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stealth453....My best friend for many years was Filipino, I liked the food a lot (especially really salty adobo with pancit), but that I don't think I ever had! My current bf (who is not Filipino) lived in the Philippines for several years and acquired a taste for balut, which grosses me out to no end. Do you eat baga ong? (not sure the spelling)

West Coast US. I was introduced to Menudo by my wife and I loved it right off. 42 years later we still have it in our regular meal rotation

I have to agree with KC barbque, it is alot better than Memphis. But to be truthfull I miss the German foods the most. I lived in Germany for over ten years growing up, and I miss it dearly. The papa fritz and snitzel yummy and don't forget a good bratwurst with sweet kraut and onions. I was too young to drink beer back then so I can't tell you about it.

    well that is my thought

Real brown bread that is warm with brie and some jam ... oh baby, life does not get better then that! Heck, brown bread on its own is pretty darn sweet. Real Irish butter ... now that also adds a lot to a meal.

I do agree though that tamales are pretty good as well.

The restaurant 'Pancho's' was mentioned and yes there are still two or three here in Oklahoma. I only wish I had gone there when the food tasted good as was mentioned. I wouldn't go there now.

    Something I miss from Denver:

Green Chili or chile. The kind where real pork (Carnita's) is cooked for a long, long time into a delicious thick soup. And then serve it over anything from breakfast burritos to good tamales. The hotter the better!

I've tried asking for it in Oklahoma and I usually get a slimy green salsa made with tomatillo's. Not even close to being the same.

BUFFALO WINGS (used to be regional)

COONIES (disgusting white mystery meat served in an animal intestine, otherwise known as a white hot dog, consistency like baby food, tastes like vomit, smells rancid)

SALT POTATOES (an assault on an otherwise innocent vegetable, boiled to death in a mixture of a bag of salt and water, served hot with an unappetizing white salt residue and melted butter)

SPIEDIES (chunks of meat marinated in a very spicy solution, then grilled)

APPLES, GRAPES & MAPLE SYRUP--We produce a lot of this here so you can find pretty much anything made with them--grape pie (tastes like blueberry), maple sugar candy, apple butter

The best food here is Italian. We have an Italian restaurant everywhere you look, most with really authentic, delicious food. We are the test market for Italian foods such as Olivio, because there are so many Italians here.

We drink different beers here than elsewhere in the US (Labatt's) and drink a lot more blush wine than elsewhere too.
