I went and saw this movie Sunday and I admit, I was not expecting much. I liked the first one, a ton. I thought the second one was too long and boring, with all sorts of new information that was so off the plot of the original, that you felt like it sort of ruined the original. So as I set there through two hours and forty five minutes, I did not expect much more then some nice Caribbean views and maybe a good old fashion joke or too. Instead I got more of what number two offered, things coming in to the story that made no sense with the original, plot points missing and one hell of a long close of Johnny Depps nose (If you've seen the movie, you would understand).

Here are some points I found odd ...

In the time of the Pirates, going from Singapore to the Caribbean would have taken months. In this movie, their boats seems to move around the globe with the speed of a jet liner. Wonder what they have in those sails.

The black woman, who was actually Kalypso, was in love with Caption Jack Sparrow in #2, and yet in this movie you find out he helped trap her in the human body. Guess she was happy, as long as he used her body from time to time.

The monkey, suddenly was not cursed anymore.

No mention of how Elizabeth's father was killed, only that he was killed after he learned of the heart.

The Admiral who was suppose to marry her in #1, is an ass in #2 that she hates, and then suddenly she is kissing on him in #3 and mourning his death? Maybe it is good Orlando Bloom dies, he is married to a woman of serious emotional swings.

Don't even get me started on that lame wedding scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, this movie was better then the second, only because they did not have as lame of an ending. Other then that, how are these movies making so much money with such a weak story line, that does not bother to follow its own rules?

    What did you think?

It was very difficult for me to follow. It seemed like they tried to cram too much into the three hours. I soon lost interest, and thought that it was too long. Two and a half hours of Johnny Depp wearing eye shadow and walking around like a girl is more than enough for me.

You are much too logical for this movie free2beme! lol, you have a very good eye for inconsistencies,,,now where did you get that ;)

I love those movies, and I loved this one. Half of the movie is let's face, how hot Johnny is (oh my gooood looking!) how hot Orlando is, he looked soo fine in that movie, and how gorgeous Keira is (she's almost as hot as me).

So, in that respect I was very satisfied, and I just thought it was good fun, loved the part where it first showed Johnny in Davie Jones locker, with that half a peanut on his plate.

I plan to go see it again, compared to 90% of the movies, it's far and away more interesting to the eye and more entertaining for sure. I want more Pirates movies,,,,pleeeeeaaaase!

I hate it when movies get bloated with action/fx without any substance or an excuse for a plot. Or if it has one, if it gets too confusing for its own good. Even good movies like King Kong just go on tooo long. I guess I prolly won't watch Pirates 3, like I never watched Matrix Revolutions. I guess the original Pirates will stand alone for me, like the original Matrix does.

I thought it was a pretty good movie, but sadly disappointing as a conclusion to the Pirates franchise.

A convoluted plot-line combine with logical inconsistencies enough to jar one's willing suspension of disbelief right up to the ending that left MUCH to be desired.

I will be buying the DVD as deleted scenes supply the information that upon completing the first ten years and finding his love waiting, the Capt of the Dutchman is freed from his curse.

This, of course sets up yet another inconsistency as 'the Dutchmen MUST have a captain,' but I would prefer to have (yet) another logical hole in an otherwise pleasing storyline than to have invested all those hours for naught.

The first one was good, the second stretched it a bit, this was the worst of the three. but still fairly worthy overall compared the other swill Hollywood seems to be serving.

There's my two cents, you may keep the change.

You should have watched the credits it was after the credit roll as an easter egg.

'the Dutchmen MUST have a captain'

Doesn't have be the same captain, they just get another one remember.

    Nice thoughts, but consider this:

I did stay after, it did not really answer anything, it could have been just his 'one day' for all they explained. I have read that a deleted scene which will probably be on the DVD release will provide much clearer exposition on this point.

I know they would need another, but there is the rather odd matter of the heart in the box. First, it was done by Jones to kill the pain, and was what made him a monster, then it was how one becomes the captain, and it was abandoning his duties that made him monstrous.

If hiding his heart away kept Jones from feeling, how is Will doing it?

Who would they stick with the captaincy if Elizabeth were faithful? Would Will 'stay on' until a replacement were found? Is there some order of succession?

Nah, much less than satisfying overall, but still a lot better than some others I've seen previewed.

It was ok I suppose. I like how Mr Depp mirrors himself on the great Keith Richards..how about for Pirates 4 casting the aging rocker as a long lost brother to Captain Jack. Two Keith Richards on the screen at the same time would be brilliant....

I enjoyed it. I find that we want to recapture the same magic we felt when we saw the first movie with a series of sequels. In fact, we both had a good time.

    Now coming up:

    Harry Potter (5?)

    Fantastic Four 2

What about Fracture? Anyone seen that? PM me if you want to.
