    Cooler:

I get it. Old light is a good swap for new Bud lite. Works for me.

Can it be used for Coors lite too?

    BB:

That is a big step for hubby! Way to go!

Good for you Bee....We got rid of most of our books too...but when I moved the air conditioning unit the other day, I found two bibles and another book my husband had used last year to balance the unit in the window ....I must remember to put them in the blue box with the papers on recycling day.

Your hubby sounded a little reserved at first? I had a few reservations at first, don't know why, as I knew I'd never go back to the KH, so why hang on to all that crap?! It took me a couple years...then I felt no guilt.

So Delilah - old JW books are good for somthing eh?? lol

Yeah, he was reserved. I've been wanting to get rid of them for ages - they've been in boxes under the stairs for years!!

He's just not quite where I am, but I work on him bit by bit!

I'm going to explore this ebay thing a bit more first though! Anything to add to the beer fund!! lol

Isn't it odd how difficult it can be to discard your old WTS literature?

Almost as if our indoctrination to revere the literature as if it came from God remains unbroken?

Does anyone see the similarities between how people treat flags and how JW's treat the lit?

Oh sure, there are those who see the lit as being merely paper, but there are many more who seem to revere it as an emblem.

maybe the lit needs special disposal like like flags.... fire?

You are so right RollerDave about the literature being like "sacred".

Took me years before I could throw boxes out - even old magazines.

Some of the anticult ministries can use them. Some offer to send you the original copy of a wt or other lit as most jw's do not accept printouts still. A local Christian bookstore may know of a local anticult ministry or check your phone book. Most won't have ads because they are often only a few individuals who do this to help others and bear all costs themselves.

My mother had all kinds of books and bound volumes from when my grandma passed away. They were pretty much all doubles of what she already had and didn't need them. She tried and tried to give them away, nobody wanted/needed them. She tried to donate them to the hall for the library, they didn't want them either. An elder told my mom to just throw them away, most of it was "old light" anyways. Throwing out literature was such a foreign concept to her! It was if it was s acrilegious to do so.
