I remember going over the baptism q's with another elder. We got to the sex part and the brother says to the publisher, "so obviously, it wouldn't be appropriate to use "toys" in one's sex practices". I looked at both of them with my best "WTF!?" face. Ahhh. The memories.

Sexual repression is a huge problem amongst JWs.

Many, certainly not a majority(but more than you may think), new JW wives suffer from vaginismus. The Awake should feature an article about it.

    [edit] Primary vaginismus

Primary vaginismus occurs when a woman has never been able to have penetrative sex or achieve any kind of vaginal penetration. It is commonly discovered in teenagers and women in their early twenties, as this is when many young women in the Western world will initially attempt to use tampons, have penetrative sex, or undergo a pap smear. Women who have vaginismus may not be aware of their condition until they attempt vaginal penetration. It may be confusing for a woman to discover she has vaginismus. She may believe that vaginal penetration should be naturally easy, or she may be unaware as to the reason for her condition.

Some of the things that may cause primary vaginismus are:

    • sexual abuse
    • having been taught that sex is immoral or vulgar
    • the fear of pain associated with penetration, particularly that of breaking the hymen upon the first attempt at sexual penetration

    [edit] Secondary vaginismus

Secondary vaginismus occurs when a woman who has previously been able to achieve penetration develops vaginismus. This may be due to physical causes such as a yeast infection or trauma during childbirth, or it may be due to psychological causes. The treatment for secondary vaginismus is the same as for primary vaginismus, although, in these cases, previous experience with successful penetration can assist in a more rapid resolution of the condition.

what does it mean to "never been able to have penetrative sex"?
door locked? how? it doesnt seem to be a physical problem? a kind of phobia?

i believe many jw wives suffered from that because of the second cause of that problem.
but i never heard of it either.

ive heard that toys thing too. it all sounds like men being in fear of her deedledoo not being enough. i dont want to know how many JW couples ever obeyed the rules. i guess they just decided to have no sex at all. lol.

well I have never been married. But I have had plenty of friends that were in the truth get married and I remember one of my friends telling me that they cannot perform oral sex. Because only animals do that and true gods servants are not to act as animals. LOL

When my friend got married, she and hubby-to-be got this talk. Apparently, everything but missionary position, for procreative purposes only, is wrong. And get this- foreplay is ok, as long as it leads to sex; otherwise it's just fooling around and being lewd. They really gave this girl a complex. She was shy and virginal before, but now her guilt feelings are off the chart. I feel really badly for her (and her hubby) because a good sex life is such a beautiful thing; I hate that they're missing out.

Am I the only one who had this discussion with the elders while getting ready for baptism?
