"...We used to go to one during our lunch at school."
What's funny about this is... I remember when I worked in Fredericksburg, TX - at the local radio station. I was young... single... and all alone. I would go to the Pizza Hut and treat myself to a nice pizza. Well... right next door to Pizza Hut was the local Sonic. I could watch out the window as the local kids would slowly drive in to Sonic, park, talk to their friends, back out and leave.
Within 5 minutes, they'd be back. Repeat the process... park, talk, etc. Then leave. Within 5 minutes - repeat.
It's called cruising.
Just last night my wife's son was talking about some friends of his in Missouri doing this at the local Sonic... although he wasn't calling it 'cruising'.
For those who do not know what a Sonic is... it is a fast food restaurant where you drive into a 'slot', and there is an ordering kiosk on a pole right outside your car. You press a big red button and in a few minutes (if you're lucky), a voice takes your order. In a few minutes, a gal brings a tray with your food and you pay her. You then get to enjoy the burgers and fries right there in your car.

Sonic is one of the things I'm gonna miss when I move I love the drinks there and the onion rings are to die for! Didn't know about the float though, shame too cause my daughter and I were out and around last night and could have stopped and got one. Oh well maybe next time!
I remember the frosty baby mugs from A & W as well. Good memories!
Here in the Northeast, there are NO Sonics. They play the commercials all the time, though!? I regret not trying one while in Dallas last year. They look so good, too good, really.

for the record- we never sank that low socially. We'd all park and get out, and fill up all the tables.
Good times...
Ahh.
Oh! Another thing that I love about Sonic!
Whenever I go, I can invariably find pennies (or other coins) on the ground. The gals wear coin dispensers around their waist, and occassionally they drop coins on the ground. They usually don't pick them up.
I scored ten cents last night (I found a dime). WooHoo!!!

I attempted to stop by last night after leaving the Kingdom Hall. It was WAAAAYYYY too packed! I decided to forget about it and go on home.
