Where did you get that idea? It seems the opposite. The old diseases are coming back into the USA now and many of the antibiotics aren't working anymore. The economy is about to go down hill to match the global economy and the terrorist attacks are just a matter of time away. A natural disaster is just waiting to happen. Am I being pesomistic or just realistic? Remember Armageddon is just around the corner, or is that soon, before I grow old or what?

Are we on the verge of something wonderful? Perhaps fundamentalism will fade away as knowledge increases?

I get what you are saying Undecided. But much in the world is better than it's ever been.

yeah, I'm with Ken on this one - Armageddons imminent and then after that everything will be just fine

I'd say that's just steady progress rather than a sign of something amazing happining - folks would have said the same thing years ago and maybe they'll say it in the future when there's a cure for cancer, AIDS, MRSA etc.

Humanity is a cycle
It gets better than worse then better again.
Sucks though if you live in a down cycle.

Thanks Sad emo! And Undecided.
IMHO, progress is rarely steady.
More often, leaps are made, with plateaus being reached and maintained.
Are we perhaps, about to leap to a higher plateau?
Is the mixing of nations and cultures leading to a new-found openness amongst many of the members of the younger generation?
Are we experiencing a societal adolescence of sorts, that will lead to maturity and stability?

Good observation 5go. What kind of cycle do you perceive us to be in?

Some things are definitely better, but we often only look at the bad things. Life span is better due to many medicines and better information for people to take better care of themselves thru maternity, infants, diabetics, heart, lungs (percentage less of smokers), aging issues. Most have plenty materially but some only dwell at what they don't have. More information on many things are ready available due to the internet,,Peace is only relative,,but we have had worst times as history proves,,someone said "history soon becomes a stranger."
