My husband is a HUGE fan of the Science Channel. He shared this with me yesterday while we were taking a break from the yard work.

I thought this was interesting and wanted to share with you guys.

Did you know that worldwide there are far more flying creatures (birds, insects) than walking or crawling creatures?

Nope, but that sure does explain why whenever i go out one of them always makes a beeline for my mouth.

That's funny I thought the guy counting had lost count and had to start over so the results were still not official. <shrug>

I don't know Dave. And he can't remember anything more of the program. I asked.

If you include swimming creatures, it probably passes them both.

I guess this means the locust illustration useless.

Maybe we should be likened to dodo's?

Dodoes are birds that can't fly right? Like penguins....... Hey! OUTLAW is the penguin know it all. Maybe he knows something about this subject.

Good point Ken. I'll have to inquire about that........ my husband knows EVERYTHING.

The insects are a very successful order, ants alone are so abundant wherever one drops a few crumbs of bread they will soon appear and start removing them. Ants alone make up about 15% of the mass of all living things. They don't fly but many other kinds of insect do.

I suppose when you say science channel you mean "Discovery Science".

Yes, Greendawn - Discovery (Science) Channel. Do you watch that channel often?

    Cool about the ants.... 15%!

Ken P - this fact deals w/flying and walking/crawling creatures that live on the land. But you could be very right. The program only concerned land creatures.

Hi anewme! Hope things are going good for you and your husband.
