As other posters have said - in England it's common to see Kingdom Halls WITH windows. HOWEVER, locally there is one without windows, and the reason given is because of vandalism. This I don't believe as it's situated in a very 'old' area with no significant crime. It's also opposite a police station AND a church (with nice stained glass windows). personally, I think in this instance, it's psychological - keeping apart from the World.

The kh's I went to had windows, big windows, that were always wide open in the middle of winter to cancel out any effect the heaters might have so you could freeze your @$$ off. That's one of my most vivid memories of the place, sitting huddled up with a blanket wishing I was home in my nice warm house I think the no windows policy is a US thing, maybe they're waiting for Bill Gates to help them out!

I've checked around the web seeing if I could figure something out about this, sites like answerbag.com, answers.yahoo.com, etc. The general concensus (amid a lot of arguements) seems to be that some have them, some don't-but the ones that don't tend to be more recently built. Maybe old ones were properties bought with pre-existing buildings on them? Anyway, I'd say this is one of those jumping-at-shadows things.
If I had to give my best edumacated guess, it'd be that it's due to the whole quick-build process. Brother x, y, and z, can help out with the build regardless of whether they know any carpentry skills, but start adding windows and other more skill-intensive features, suddenly you're done to only brother x knowing what to do. Brother x might even get a sense of self importance, and sinful pride. Can't have that. Next thing ya know, Brother x might want to get paid for his troubles.

Reason for no Windows in Kingdumb Halls? Duh!! Let's see, hide what they're doing?? Any seconds on that motion? Mr. Flipper. Secondly, it makes their members less distracted and more controlled to pay attention, not let minds wander. Thirdly, no one can witness parents beating the hell out of their kids if there are no windows, less spanking and screaming noise. Am I onto something here? Peace, Mr. Flipper

Lol Finally-Free Just reminded me - the code for the Burglar (security) alarm was 1-9-1-4 lol - I wonder how many Kingdom Halls have the same code, and if they've changed it now!?

When my old congregation was about to build their hall they submitted two plans to the congregation. One with windows, one without. They put heavy pressure on the congregation to vote for the windowless design siting vandalism and heating.
I went back to visit recently and found that they renovated the hall and now it has windows.

Guys if you really want to know the real reason why there is no window in Kingdumb halls just think about it!!!!
you get that many window washers in one building, why would you want to remind them about work, they must have full attention to the brain washing.

Windows - is a term that has become associated with Bill Gates and the worldly Internet which JWs are admonished to avoid due to demon influence.
JWs must set themselves apart from such a connection and feel the need to make a physical gesture to emphasise their rejection of all that is Worldly and Windows.

If we are easily distracted by colors and things like clothing and jewlery then we can easily fall away from what we are learning in the kingdom hall.Each person that speaks in the kingdom Hall is blessed by jehovah so his words are also from jehovah.Jehovah guides the wise man to teach us the truth as did jesus so as we pay close attention to his words we no distraction at all.
