    Welcome faithful not discreet!

An anointed couple here in NZ,(Harold & Gladys Archer), told me that the members of the 144,000 sent in articles to the Governing Body and that when similar articles arrived from around the world at the same time this was an indication of Gods spirit directing the anointed and an article on that subject was published.

I believe now that this was BS and indeed any dub sending in unsolicited articles was considered to be a little screwy and should be watched by the congregation elders!

I did wonder about that in the beginning. Later, I came to see that they did not. In fact, some were viewed as "weird" and a little "off" in the head. So, you might wonder, what is the point of it all?

I came to the conclusion that they are nothing more than a religious marketing ploy to give the public the feeling that this religion has a pipeline to the divine. All religions need something like this to give them credibility in the eyes of the world, whether it be miracles, etc.

Without the "smoke and mirrors" they are just another club.

In looking at this thread again I realized this question shows once more the motive of those at the top of the org.

If the Governing Body were so concerned about follow what the Bible says about themselves(allegedly of course) wouldn't they allow the rest of the Slave Class to contribute? I know they have their interpretation of everyone following a centralized body in the first century but if another member of the Slave Class wants to contribute why stop them? Do they think they are the only ones of the "Slave" that are receiving truths from God?

Nope. I never really pieced it all together. Since I was basically shown that the faithful slave was the WTS I never made the connection in regards to all those 'anointed' ones around the globe.

Looking back I can't believe I never questioned it. When I came to the chapter that discussed it in Ray Franz book I couldn't believe I had been so blind to question such a stupid teaching.

This idea that the remnant were contributing ideas to the WT was one of my crutches during the 607-587 discovery phase.

As soon as I found out it was bunk--which the recent May 1 QFR just confirmed--my fears of running afoul of this "Slave" were put to rest.

It once again shows how the rank and file jw gets lied to. I also believed that the annointed had a say in what was been fed to the rest of us. Spiritual food my a**.

When I was little there were several elderly ones in our hall that were of the anointed class . I was lead to believe that they sent in surveys of a sort to the society regularly. About their opinions on theocratic matters .I was told that they ,all the anointed, contributed material to the magazines ...

I was taught to believe the same thing. It isn't true. Remember how from time to time the Awake! would have an article about how to pickle rutabagas from "an AWAKE! correspondent in Outer Underpants, Alaska"? That's as close as it ever came.

Raised a JW, I was also taught to believe that all the annointed sent input to the GB and were used by Jesus to run the organization. It wasn't until maybe a few years ago that I learned from a few "annointed" that I knew this wasn't the case.

    Edited to add:

Welcome faithful not discreet! Look forward to hearing your story.
