    dawg:

Damn right her kindness was an act

I have to disagree dawg (not that I ever disagree with you ). Lavendar's DIL is probably genuine in her efforts to help her MIL to see the Truth. To presume it is an act is really a slap in all of our collective faces as JW's/ex JWs. Did I believe I was being disingenuous when I tried to encourage non-JW relatives/friends? Of course not... I believed I had the "Truth" and was eager to share it (but not force feed) with them...I wanted them to be in Paradise with me...it was not an act.

And if Lavendar's DIL does not see the results that she wants, then the cult-mentality of the Borg will take over and she will indeed start to shorten/suspend her visits to her MIL.

    Lavendar:

"sweetness" was just an act, I guess

again, I dont think so.. your DIL (and I technically) are in a mind control cult.. just be there for her and when the shit hits the fan waste matter hits the ventilators you will come out smelling like a rose. Believe me, those of us still in but with doubt will be glad for people like you who are there for us. I have an uncle who is very kind despite the fact I have not had contact hardly at all in my life because of the "association" rule.... give her a chance....dont presume its an act. I just hope your non-JW son sees the light...have a heart to heart with him, alone..but no "either/or" ultimatums..just assure him of your love...

Notaness - Excellent, excellent points! I will definitely use those. Thank you so much for your empathy.

Sankes - I see your point. No, I would never give him (them) an ultimatum. I always show my love for them in word and deed. But I also feel I'm showing love and care for them by pointing out the falsehoods of the WTS. When the time comes (and I have to believe it will) that they see the light and leave the org., they will remember that I tried to help them.

    Notaness is right:

    "...it just plain stinks!
