Only regrets are for my children, although I was a pretty liberal jw when raising them. I encouaged them all to get a college education.
I would like to have all those memories of holidays and birthdays with them as they grew up. But we also kinda made our own holidays, to make up for the loss of the others. Still, they had to stand out as different and avoid some of the fun parts of growing up.
My biggest regret is that they are still caught in the web of deception of the Watchtower. But it isn't over yet!

I expected that there would be a number regretting not getting an education. Fortunately my parents bucked the trend and I got a degree in the 1980's, which caused a lot of negative gossip.

lol. My feeling exactly. I went on a holiday Rio in Brazil whilst I was still a Bethelite. I was in a cafe and the hottest person I have ever seen spoke to me and asked me to come back to stay with her in a 5 star hotel, and I refused! I still weep at the thought.

I have more regrets than I care to recount. My entire childhood is one long regret. My biggest regret, though, is that it took me until I was in my 30's to see what a lie the organization was.

The sex that I didn't have....feeling guilty for the jw foreplay that i did have....not being able to take up an instrument b/c being in a band was 'bad'. being creative was not looked well upon in general.
no, mostly the awesome teenage and early 20's sex....the opportunities were there, girls would freak out i was a virgin and want to deflower me, should've taken 'em up on that.
but in general i feel like i'm exactly where i need to be and the future looks pretty damn good.

Because of illness in the family I used to stay home a lot. During those years I managed to do 3 a-levels and passed with credits. What I do regret though is the guilt and shame I felt whilst doing them and having to be sneaky about the whole thing.

I regret caring what people thought of me and pioneering for 3 years. It made my health even worse. I also regret getting baptised due to peer pressure.

Not being on school sports teams and not going on band field trips would be a good start. After that probably the little amount of time I had to try and forge friendships with my wordly friends the last half of my last year in high school. I suspect I will always be somewhat socially stunted as a result.
