1. Full table service at a restaurant?
so-so service 15%
excellent service 20%
2. Counter service at a restaurant?
15%
Not as much if it is a buffet
3. The pizza (or other) delivery guy?
My pizza delivery guy is my husband...I don't tip him.
4. Furniture delivery, unpacking and placement?
Not standard practice to tip in this area
5. Barber? (or hair stylist if you are a woman)
My stylist owns the business so it is customary not to tip. I just put all my tips together and give her an "end of the year" bonus.
1. Full table service at a restaurant? 20-25%
2. Counter service at a restaurant? 2$+change
3. The pizza (or other) delivery guy? 5$
4. Furniture delivery, unpacking and placement? 20$
5. Barber? 5$
6. Any other situation I didn't think of. One should always tip generously. It is a powerful way to enhance the quality of life.
I give everyone the same tip: "Plant your corn early this year".

Generally, 20%. Don't go out much. Been there done that, so 20% is compassion money.

When i was in the States i had no idea what i was doing when it came to tips. I think i did the weirdest things.
Usually 15-20% for restaurants or salon services. When I get BAD service (like today) 0-very little. I was at a rest. for a late lunch-nearly empty place, and the server basically ignored me other than to take my order-which he clattered onto the table when it was done. Did he resent me for not ordering a soft drink?? I don't know! My lunch was the special, and I could not get his attention to get the bill. Seriously, sat there waiting, tried to flag down others-nothing. . .so I left enough for the meal and tax (with maybe 50 cents cushion) and walked out. Had I been given the actual bill, I prob. would have given a moderate tip, but since I only had enough cash to cover the check, so thats all he got. (can you tell I am still feeling kind of pissy about it??)
Pizza delivery is usually $3, I don't tip at counters, taxis, are not an issue, delivery of appliances or furn. is usually about 5-10 (and that is common, I worked with guys who did that work). I don't tip teachers, but gift certificates for bookstores or grocery stores have been appreciated at holidays or end of the year. Postal lady gets goodies, but that is more about neighborly than tipping. Officially they can't really accept gifts as govt workers, but I have known her and been friendly with her for 10 years. So, she gets cookies if I am baking.
15% to 20%. At the local pub where we know the servers and bartenders 20% others at least 15%.

an old guy once told me to tip the breakfast waitress the most which made sense to me so I always tip about 25% at breakfast, otherwise 20%, unless the bill is getting way over $100.00 in which case I tip 15%. I'm in an industry where tips are customary, so I try to tip others well - spread the wealth around, eh?
