This is a prime example of where the Witlesses are programmed to blame the victim. This kind of abuse does in fact have lifelong effects. Some abuse, including severe beatings, can cause major physical problems throughout life. Sexual abuse betrays the trust of the child and the parent (or whoever is doing the abuse). The effects of such abuse is long lasting.
But, what is worse even than that is the organization that promotes it by means of the "two-witness" rule. The victim needs to have another witness to the act in order to report it; lacking that, the abuser is innocent and anyone who warns others of it is slandering. This sets up more abuse. And it silences the victim under threat of getting cut off from life itself, which is often worse than the original abuse. And this is going on throughout the whole organization. Since when does a pedophile have another witness to the event?
It looks like this Grissom is on his way to becoming a hounder-hounder one day. He is staunchly defending the organization in ways that the higher-ups like to see. In fact, this is quite typical of active JWs that are "strong in the Troof". And anyone in the Governing Body that thinks his specious arguments for the Tower is going to win anyone, ought to look at the facts. Silentlambs and Danny Haszard are exposing real court cases, and the real facts. The Watchtower Society is starting to lose these lawsuits, and hopefully will start losing even more. The people have been hurt in ways that are long-lasting by an organization that is still practicing the offenses. It is only right that they act by suing, to put a stop to this abuse so others will be spared.
