According to my vet, the dogs should never be on the bed with you, that is making them equal to you in the pack h ierarchy. (I don't always listen to my vet!)

I have two dogs, and they are on the bed, although they don't sleep there. The one likes to get into bed with us, but as soon as the lights go out, she gets down and goes on her own bed. They both get up with me in the morning for a cuddle.

They did sleep on the bed with us, but I found my sleep was too fragmented. My sleep comes first!! lol

I just close the bedroom door, and they go off to their own corners for the night.

My cat sleeps with me and my boyfriend. He has a bed on the floor in our room which he sometimes uses if we're especially restless and disturbing him. Most of the time he curls up by our ankles. The unwritten rule in our house is that if moving would disturb the cat the other person is required to wait on you hand and foot until the kitty decides to move.

Our 16 year old dog dog (only 15 lbs) sleeps (and has always slept) in our bed, anywhere he wants. We cancelled the appointment tomorrow we had scheduled to put him to sleep. He is doing a little bit better, but I suspect he has only 1-2 more weeks left.

I would give anything to have more snuggle time in bed with him; he is sooooo cute and cozy. Do whatever makes you feel good.

i have two 80+ lb. labs. occasionally, they let me sleep in the bed with them. seriously, one sleeps with the wife and i; the other on the floor beside me. when my wife leaves for work(earlier than i ), both jump on the bed, racing down the hall to get the pillow next to me. yes, i have dog hair on the sheets, pillow, etc., and wouldn't trade it for anything. just to see them with their waggin' tails and smiles(?) when i get home from a long day at work makes it all worth while.

We used to sleep with 2 medium sized dogs. One insisted on sleeping with her head on my pillow and being under the covers with us. The other slept at our feet and often would not move if you wanted to roll over.

We got tired of the hair all over the bed and the fragmented sleep. They each have their own dog beds now, but it took us a while to train them. Just say no.
