For a number of reasons it was a bit of a rough one. My drinking problem came to a head (pun intended), an unrequited love affair crashed and burned, I had just "discovered" the world of xdub and the healing needed there after being lost in the woods, health issues began to rear their ugly head, etc. Oh and I had this feeling of "your life is half over", which I suppose is typical of a depressed person.

But I like to think all that and everything else made me stronger and wiser. Today is the rest of my life and it's good to be here.

    Peace

This years I think was the worst though. My bro-in-law asked me if I'd got a lot of cards, so I told him how many - 4 and he replied very sympathetically 'Oh that's not many is it?'

I'd tried to stay happy that I'd got those 4, but his sympathy that I'd not got more, well it kinda brought the reality home to me. Nobody ever remembers my birthday *sniff*

Oh what the hell, misery party over now. I'll be fine till next year!!

I remember turning 30 and having a really hard time with it. AHHHHHHHH.... to be 30 again!

Actually, at 30 I was still quite a baby. I am now 49! YIKES!

I got a divorce at age 47 after 28 years of marriage. How do they say it? You've come a long way........ BABY!!!

I like where my mind is today....my body......hmmmmmmmmm.........I'm working with the changes it is bringing.

29 - because I would never be in my 20's again. No other birthday has ever bothered me since. My next birthday I'll be 50. It will be the first one I've celebrated since I was 21 so I plan to make a big deal out of being free and fifty.

I've also been practicing Molly Shannon's SNL character Sally O'Malley .

I thought my worst birthday was 30, until I turned 50. Oh well.

Looks like you've got a lot in your basket. Starting life over is hard, but can be a great opportunity. You are getting your education, and it may seem like a long cycle, but you are investing in yourself. You will never regret the time, money, and effort you put into it. Be proud that you are taking control. There's a lot of good advice out there about handling money and finances. Find out what works best for you and your situation. Your college campus may offer help with someone to talk to about stress, career and finances. I took advantage of these services, and it was free!

My grandmother is 86years old. I knew here when she was working on a farm we grew up around. She was always walking a mile up and down the road to get to the farm then back to her house. She would work all day very hard and then invite the family over for a big (I mean 8-10 course meal) dinner for us. She loved doing it. I call her on occasions and it drives her nuts that she can't walk like she use to. She's on a walker now and she has to sit most of the day. I just feel for her so much. I wonder about being her age when I get there. I'm a person that can't stay down either.

I don't let age depress me, it is just a number. Half the time when someone asks me how old I am, I have no clue and have to think about it! lol

For some reason, when I turned 39, I suddenly dreaded turning 40.....I was depressed about it all year. Probably because I realized that if I live until I'm 80, then half my life is over.... Then somebody slapped me, and I turned 40....no biggy.
