Today I was followed around, complimented extensively and asked out by a guy at Wal-Mart (they have good prices on cake),,,I sort of felt like bolting, I felt extremely embarassed (and said as much) even though I was flattered. It's nice to be complimented, at the same time I'm all giggly and squirmy,,, like they're telling me that I've got a head shaped like a walnut rather than...whatever. Do you take compliments well?

    Spectre, you're hot! Believe it?

I should add that earlier in the day my little 7 yr. old Sister told me I was a hamster. lol, no chance of getting a big head with my two little insult machines and their highly tuned compliment busting abilities.

If someone compliments me I assume it will be followed up with a request for a favour of some kind.

Of course I don't believe it. You haven't seen me.

Hamster, good one. 7 years olds think of everything.

Just a simple thanks. Quite often I get a follow up question about where I bought something or had hair/piercings done.

I don't take to compliments well. Why would someone compliment me? I have no special qualities or talent. Thing is, I think people, in general, feel the same way. We're prone to be suspisous of flattery.(Hehheh...know I can't spell worth a damm)...Compliments I do take as genuine are the ones from my grand kids and for the most part my wife and daughter, otherwise, for the most part, I'm suspisous of compliments that come from others....

Thank goodness I'm not a total cynic thgough...there are several trusted friends whose comments I value...

Compliments almost always conceal an ulterior motive so they are not really genuine though occasionally they may be so, just aiming at boosting the person's self respect and self image which is desirable.
