  There was a good article in the paper today about the UN losing it's status. Imagine if that were to happen for a second, the UN close down....how in the world would they explain the wild beast? I'm sure it would be something like their explanations of the king of the north and the king of the south - anytime the 'current king' falls into a meaningless state they assign a new nation and say it's an ongoing thing. But I think that would be a tough hurdle to overcome.

  I like to put a positive spin on family still being Watchtower slaves. Christmas and Birthdays are a lot cheaper as long as they stay JWs! For me, they can stay till they die. I'm done crying!

  They finally split into two congregations, the east and the west. Since the Hall was in the west unit's territory they decided the west unit owned it and the east unit had to pay rent, but the east unit people weren't happy and they wanted to know if they got any credit for their equity. The west unit said no, that the rent was for expenses but the east unit still didn't let it go so they gave a talk and said it was too close to Armageddon to be fighting about a building. That was about 1956.

  Nowadays, the congregations that share a building, donate equally into a central fund (usually called the maintenance fund) out of which all bills, mortgage payments, repairs come out of. 3 elders from the congregation holding the territory on which the building sits, function as the non-profit corporation officers but neither they or the other congregation owns the building or land. All the congregations are supposed to vote on any monies spent out of that fund. Utilities and mortgage payments are not voted on but any new expense one-time or continuing has to be voted on by the congregation. The WTS is very strict now about corporate laws be followed.

  might be worth a try to say you have been reading about the Moonies cult and that they teach that leaving the cult can lead to the untimely death of you and maybe even your children. Ask how scary that would be to be part of a cult that believes you will die if you leave? (From Steve Hassan's book) Personally I think the student has to be ready for thet teacher though,,,

  The only way someone will leave is if they are discouraged and put down so much that they start re-thinking if it's all worth it after all. When they start FEELING the lack of love, they start becoming more critically minded.

  I can think of maybe 3 people in my family that are on the fence, they do things that would be considered Worldly, but still at the end of the day always go back, I think if they really had to make a choice it would take a lot of doing to get them to leave but I still hope.

  other members of my family if Jesus cam to them with 3 forms of ID, and a Notarized document that says Stay away from the JW's they will still need to check with the elders on that.

  I remember we were not allowed to eat Church's Chicken because it had the word "Church" ha ha ha how freaking stupid, humm makes me want to open a chain of Jehovah's Fried Chicken!! the bucket could be shaped like a watchtower. ha ha ha

Nothing short of Ted Jaracz going on an insane shooting spree at Bethel losing his mind in the process and molesting everybodies kids while he does it. That's probably close to the only thing that would shake their faith. And then that might be a stretch. They'd say, Jehovah cleaned Ted out of the organization to save the rest of em'
