Good Morning and "Happy Sunday Everyone!!

Yesterday our family (Grandparents, Grandkids, Aunts, Uncles) all went for a two hour drive for a picnic and all day fossil dig. (Sorry, I cannot tell you where, as it would probably reviel who I am to the trolls on this forum.) We had a WONDERFUL time, and I highly recommend it, if you live near such a place to dig for fossils. There is no denying prehistoric life did in fact exist! So this brings me to my question for all of you....

How many here believe in Creation, yet also believe in the Pre Historic Ages and Fossil Records?

Being raised a Witness, there was never a good answer for Fossils, and no one ever wanted to discuss Dinosaurs because they had no explanation for them because it says nothing of their life in the Bible. So it was always quickly dismissed. However, my husbands and I firmily believed in their existance, and often pondered if Jesus was just "playing" around in creation. After leaving the Borg, and experiencing the freedom of "thought" I began to develope my own conclusions regarding the matter. For me this makes perfect sence, and was wondering if any of you have ever wondered the same thing. Here it is:

OK..any artist, designer, architect, potter, scrapbooker...etc. will tell you that half, if not all the fun in making something is in the design. You begin with nothing and create a masterpiece. If you sat down and in a "poof" or a snap of your fingers it was completed, how much fun would that really be? Not much fun. However, there is much joy in letting those "creative juices" flow. You begin with something, move it around, add to it, take it away. Sometimes you leave it for a while, then decide you don't like it, and change it. Sometimes, some of what you create you like right off the bat. And you leave it. While other things you manipulate until it is just perect. And many times the designer cleans the slate and starts again.

Now...look at much of the Fossils that have been found. From Whooly Mamoths, Megladone Sharks, Saber Tooth Tigers..etc..everything was HUGE in size..and many simular creatures exist today only in a smaller scale and in a more refined form. Yet, some things remained the same and seem to have never gone extinct at all. Even the prehistoric man scientist have claimed to have proof of they say is not refined with the body and brain we have today.

So...who is to say that when Jesus began creating, the fossils we find today are of of his "prototypes". What if he created them, let them exist for a while to see how they worked together, then deleated most and refined everything? How does the Bible fit into all of this?? Well, it was written for man. There is no need to include in it the details of how we were designed. Just what we need to have faith in God. Personally I don't see why this theory isn't possible.

There is one thing for sure. For me and our family, we believe in both. Creation and the Pre Historic World. So give me your thoughts. Do any of you believe in both? And have you ever thought of this before??

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty the Fossil Hunter

The dinos existed for sure. Some wierd entity might have created them?. One thing is for sure that biological matter has existed in the universe for Billions of years.

I read "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson a couple of months ago.

In one chapter he deals a lot with fossils etc.

He makes the observation that we all think there lots and lots of fossils that have been found.

But we could get all the fossils found into the back of a 5 ton wagon or even smaller.

Because many of them are just small pieces.

When you go to the British Natural Museum in London they have the skeleton of a huge dinosaur on display. Yet the only real bones of it are a couple of tail bones and a leg bone (if I recall right, of what Bryson wrote) the rest are made of plaster.

He also said fossils of our "human" ancestors could probably fit in the back of a pick-up truck.

From his interviews with the scientists and paeleontologists even they are confused by it all.

As a believer in God, I don't have a problem with the fossils. It's how they are interpreted that I have a problem. Not to mention the fact, that the fossil record does not explain the origin of life. The fossil record is the result or product of the origin of life.

You could also say this regard to holy books, of which the Bible is regarded as one.

As an agnostic, I don't have a problem with holy books. It's how they are interpreted that is the problem. Not to mention the fact that holy books do not truly explain the origin of life, they're just writings of men. Holy books are the product of or the result of certain cultures and their belief systems.

    Just my thoughts.

I do. I believe we were created----I just don't believe that it happened exactly how Genesis described it.
