Frank Zappa, because he was a great musician and song writter and fantastic guitarist and he didnt sell out to pop radio. Plus if you ever saw him testify before congress or be interviewed on many tv shows you would have seen that humanity lost a genius, who told it like it is in his satarical songs. But, he did all kinds of music from rock to symphonic orchestra. When he died the 20th centry lost its living Bethoven, Back, Wagner.

    You tube the man.

Vince Lombardi wasn't a celebrity? As a cheesehead I have to take offense. Vince Lombardi was a god!

Princess Di.I've always felt a kinship with her.She was my idol from the time I was like 6 or 7 years old.She was also the first person I ever cried over when she died. She was buried the day my sister got married.I woke up that day at 4 AM to watch the funeral from start to end.

John Lennon. Martin Luther King. Believe it or not Steve Irving, Crocodile Hunter. That really upset everyone. George Harrison. Princess Di. I still am in denial over her. John Belushi. Gilda Radner, that was very sad. So many.

Andy called me at work to tell me of Marlon Brando's death. That surprised me.

Kurt Cobain, Aaliyah was shocking because she was just so young same with Lisa Lopes of TLC. I thought Steve Irwins passing was incredibly sad and tragic.

I cried like a baby when Stevie Ray Vaughan died. For some reason that one really affected me. I was familiar with his struggle with addictions and a dysfunctional family (like myself). It was good that he slew those demons and was clean and sober for three years before he died. I have musician friends who knew him personally and they all said he was yhe sweetest man they'd ever known, even when he was totally f**ked up. They all described him as "everyones little brother".

Others that hurt me were John Lennon, (how friggin senseless was that?), the great Jimi H (in three short years he changed the music world forever), Robert Nesta Marley, John Candy, Chris Foley, John Belushi, Jim Morrison,

    sigh.

man doesn't this stoopid thing have an edit button (locutus looking frantically)

and add Christa McAuliffe to the list. I was living in Concord NH when that tragedy occurred. My daughter was in kindergarten in Concord and was also deeply affected by that.

Yes, a god, but not a celebrity :) I remember I was in the Marine Corps when he died (I wasn't even aware he'd been ill) and it felt like I lost my own father. Being young and far away home news of his death hit me hard. A fellow cheesehead - poppers.
