Uh, can I jump into this existential menage a quatre?
Thanks for posting this Purps.
All points ring true for me.
As a closet fader I have an ongoing disconnect with three areas in particular:
I tell the truth to myself and others.
I experience oneness, rather than separation.
I participate in spiritual community on an ongoing basis.
It seems to me that as long as a person is hiding who they are, (that would be me) that these areas will not be fully developed and experienced.
Thanks again for posting this. It helps bring into focus the choices I have made and continue to make each day.Open Mind

I am open to learning.
I am open to learning about spiritual traditions that are unfamiliar. I am losing interest in making judgements, and gaining zest for my experience of childlike curiosity. I see all of my experiences in life as opportunities to learn. As a Jw, this is a skill that I never practiced, was never allowed to think this way. Honestly, it was always a 'waste of time' to enjoy life and learn about other's views, since it was only those who 'did Jehovah's [read GB's] will that counted.
Nowadays I enjoy a wonderful exchange of viewpoints, both here on JWD, and in other places. I don't have a huge social circle, both due to age and past history of cutting everyone off who was not JW. But I no longer do that - I enjoy seeing the various points of opinion, and enjoy just exploring information at times that is totally irrelavant to my life at the moment.
I have noted that most people, Jw or non-Jw, have little ability to do this. They have cocooned themselves into a tightly fitted mold of opinion that restricts them from growth, whether that is in matters of politics, religion, or social viewpoints. Having broken free from such shackles has had a wonderful effect of my being able to view opinions and ideas from a largely 'neutral' perspective, since on many issues I never took a stand previous to my post-Jw life. IN that sense, I owe a debt of gratitude to Jw for having allowed me to enjoy diversity far more than some others.
Nice topic, Purps.

I agree openmind -. I suppose the important thing is to be oneself to the extent that one can.

I pretty much agree with all the info but I get really tired of hearing how
we are not supposed to drink caffiene.
I know the mormons don't drink caffiene, so I wonder what is spiritually wrong with it.

I was thinking the same purps.
Caffeine and a little alcohol do the body good.

No worries. Momma Watchtower says booze & coffee are just fine. Drink up!

I must agree Purps.
I have had two beverages today. Coffee was the first one. Now, having mowed the lawn, I am drinking a beer.
What's the good of spirituality without a good beverage along for the ride?

I think you just said something very profound there my brother.

Spirituality is different from religion. Spirituality is one's experience of self as essentially spirit, as a spiritual being with a body.
I appreciate the fact you offer a definition of what you are talking about; so few people do.
If you are at all familiar with my posts you'll know in advance that I have no idea what a "spirit" is.
