However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8
I don't know!
That was one of the things I could never believe when studying w/them.
1914-2007 = 259 seconds in Lord's time?
However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8
259.2 seconds = 3 years according to the above.
86,400 seconds in a day divided by 1,000 =- 86.4 seconds per year
86.4 x 3 = 259.2
Yes, 1914-2007 would be around 136 minutes.
1 day= 24 hours= 86,400 seconds=1 thousand years
86,400 divided by 259.2 seconds=333.33333 days
I have no earthly idea the significance of 333.33333 days.
Looking forward to your revelation.

That would be a lot of chinese shirts with one sleave longer than the other! (sold as seconds on the silk path) carmel
Ummm, I'm very embarrassed here because I actually got my maths a bit wrong. You were all on the right lines though. As aniron correctly worked out;
259.2 seconds = 3 years according to the above.
86,400 seconds in a day divided by 1,000 =- 86.4 seconds per year
I goofed up in that I then wanted the equivalent of 3 days on this 'divine timescale' but instead I gave you the figure for 3 years. My question should have read 'What is the Biblical significance of 0.71 seconds?'
But perhaps my point has been made anyway. Taking, as the Watchtower do, a literal interpretation of scriptures like 2 Peter 3:8 can lead to all sorts of crackpot conclusions.
From Jehovah's perspective, his son was only absent from heaven for about 48 minutes, his ministry lasted for about 15 minutes and his descent into death lasted no more than a fraction of one second! After that, his son was back at his side fully restored and even promoted.
Sacrifice? I think not.
sacrifice? of course yes!
even if you take it literally and god really missed his son for a couple of minutes only JESUS was human and endured the time like a human did. and even the pain jesus feeled was the pain of a human.
so the question would be: is it a sacrifice for you to let others torture your child as they wish for 48 minutes? i think no parents could live with that. and it that case its different. is it a sacrifice to let others torture your child as they wish for 48 minutes and apply the same pain like in several years of torture in that time.
omg. i couldnt do it.
