Mouthy
I'm rather fond of the "Dick and Jane" series of books.
I use them frequently as references in my research, and scour them for aphorisms when I need to post something clever or witty.
Farkel, Scholarly CLASS
Mouthy, can you please send Doug to his room?
(Good to see you around again Farkel.)

DOUG??? WHO IS DOUG. IF it is Farkel No I cant do that I love him too much
Wow – great thread – lots of interesting books I have to add to my reading list!
Here are a few I enjoyed and learned a lot from:
When the Body Says No – The Cost of Hidden Stress – Gordon Mate
This was the book that started me on my path out of the organization. It is about the mind/body connection and illnesses that stem from lack of ability to govern your own life and not functioning as an autonomous individual. I highly recommend this book!
In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction – Gordon Mate
This book gave me the insight that if God considers an alcoholic/drug addict a sinner and deserving of disfellowshipping then he cannot be an omniscient God and he cannot be loving.
Hold on To Your Kids – Gordon Neufeld
Very highly recommend to all parents and those considering having kids
The Power of Now and A New Earth – Eckhart Tolle
The Power of the Subconscious Mind – Joseph Murphy
Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success – Deepak Chopra
The Brain that Changes Itself - Norman Doidge
Neuroplasticity of the Brain
Evolve Your Brain – Joe Dispenza
Neuroplasticity and how to change your brain.
The Physics of Miracles – Richard Bartlett
A bit out there but it resonated with me. It looks at quantum physics and how miracles can be manifested in life when you “expect” them to be. It certainly gave me new perspectives of God.
The Soul’s Code
An interesting read blending mythology and the “acorn theory” of the soul
The Biology of Belief – Bruce Lipton
Genes and DNA do not control our biology – our beliefs/thoughs and signals outside the cell do.
Next on my reading list is a suggestion from Cognizant Dissident:
Of Woman Born: Motherhood as Experience and Institution - Adrienne Rich
I can’t wait to read it; but I’m reading five books right now so it will have to wait just a little while longer – at least till I finish one of them!
Sorry – that was a little more than five – I can’t help but be enthusiastic about books! I’ll keep adding to the list – there are many more I can recommend. That’s what happens when you stop reading the WT publications! You actually start to learn something. It’s extremely humbling to see how much I don’t know!
