After much thinking I have decided Bhutan is the best place in the world to be born. It is the only country in the world with a policy for the populations happiness.

In the UK depending on your city your average life expectancy can differ by eight years. Scary!

Where do you think the best place to born is (exclusing 25 Columbia Heights!)

mtsgrad, I'm with you! In the same month, I saw two reports about Bhutan--one when Matt Lauer from the TODAY show visited there, and then another program on Discovery or one of those channels.

I love that their policy is to be happy.

The fundamental document of the US guarantees the right to pursue happiness. What does Bhutan's say?

Happiness can not, nor should it, be legislated.

I don't think you can be born there. Once a Bethelite is pregnant, she (and her husband, assuming he's the father) are outplaced into a new assignment "in the field".

    Here's an old Bethel Joke:

    Q. Why did Brother & Sister XX leave Bethel?

    A. Because Sister XX got the "Egyptian Flu". She's going to be a MUMMY.

I find France is not too bad as a country to be born in, provided it's not in wartime, which unfortunately has not occurred very often over history. Don't know why, I always dreamt of living in New Zealand, but when in London I 'd see plenty of young NZers who were coming over to England to have a merrier life than in their native country, where they said they'd get bored. Is that still true ?
