Nvrgnbk-I was going to say the same thing. In NY it was extra cool because they have a fireworks display for three holidays(memorial day, 4th and labor day.)I used to love going on top of the 107 or towers bldg to watch(with about 50 others.)

    Memories, huh bro?

    Go Brooklyn! LOL!

There's no reason NOT to celebrate the 4th of July. I never quite got that, since I've always lived in America, and barbeque and watching fireworks never hurt anybody! Ok...so the ashes coming down burn the piss out of ya, but still....

Here's to my favorite holiday after Halloween!

There are a lot of witness that will watch football, basketball, hockey and other sports yet will tell you that it would be wrong for a witness to play the sport. I think watching fireworks on the fourth falls into a similar category of hypocrisy.

I always took my JW family to see the fireworks at the various celebrations.

After all we weren't actually celebrating -- we were just lookin'...

We always bought and shot-off our own fireworks.

After all, we weren't actually celebrating -- we just had a couple of opportunities a year to get fireworks. Nothing demonized about a little gunpowder.

    Dear Fatfreak,

That is so funny! Haven't you heard the latest "new light"? It's ok as long as you don't wear the colors red, white or blue!!! Ha Ha Ha!!

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty

I remember when we were studying, the couple studying with us invited us to go watch the fireworks. And we did, but I was thinking it was kind of weird.

Also, this same couple invited us later that year to go drive around with them and look at the Christmas light displays all around the town and countryside. We said no to that one. It was funny because the husband kind of chastised his wife after we told them no.

At last night's meeting I overheard a number of people talking about where to go see fireworks. Is the rule for this particular holiday that 'so long as there are no flags or remembering of the history of America' involved, than everything else is ok?

Finding a 4th of July fireworks display without flags and patriotism is impossible. They must be justifing it somehow. I'd love to hear their explanation.

Going to actual fireworks displays are very patriotic by nature. Just watch some of the displays on tv. How they are able to justify it is... well... they are always able to do a 'quick-dance' to justify anything they want to.

Not surprising at all, I suppose.
