JW's celebrating the largest national birthday of all -- you heard me!

My non-JW son just called from another state. I asked him if he's attending any fireworks display tomorrow in observance of our nation's birthday. He laughed, knowing that I was digging the lack of birthday celebrations amongst JW's.

Yes, Dad, and you won't believe this but Gxxxxxxx (My JW son, his brother) is taking his family to watch the display.

    We laughed together.

Here we have the largest birthday celebration known, the birthday of our nation, a nation abhorred as a Beast by JW interpretation -- and they have no problem sitting on the sidelines like most of the populace, ooing and aaahing.

Is this unusual on the part of today's JW's?

yeah, my dad is a very faithful dub, although, he's really cool about stuff. he came down here for new years because the saints were playing their last regular season game. after the game, we went to bourbon street and partied. drank alot, then, went to the river to watch the fireworks. i even caught him sneaking peeks at the ladies raising their tops. it made him more human. i was glad to see it. but, yes, alot of dubs will let themselves go watch fireworks. of course, they tell themselves they aren't celebrating anything.

oh, btw, when the game was starting, he stood for the national anthem.

They try to curtail it, but who doesn't love fireworks?

I think that's because they have no way of knowing who is seeing the fireworks. After all, I can see them from a few miles away through binoculars, sometimes from home, without having to go out in the congested roads to see them. Often, one can see them after the boasting session, right from the Kingdumb Hell parking lots. This is similar in ways to many Witlesses who drive around in the evening around Christmastime to enjoy the Christmas lights, pretending to be on the way to one of their many boasting sessions or out in service. They have no way of knowing who is enjoying the show.

Let them figure out a way to read minds, however, and that will come to a screeching halt. All they need is to think one is going out of their way to see the fireworks or Christmas lights instead of trying to do "street work" at these events or heading to a boasting session, and they will hound the crap out of the offender. Just imagine in the new order, there will be no fireworks or holiday lights to enjoy.

Nvrgnbk-I was going to say the same thing. In NY it was extra cool because they have a fireworks display for three holidays(memorial day, 4th and labor day.)I used to love going on top of the 107 or towers bldg to watch(with about 50 others.)
