I wonder....... Speaking hypothetically, suppose that science is never able to create artificial
intelligence. Suppose they are never able to construct consciousness.
This is not a minor concern. The Japanese, some years ago, spent billions trying to create artificial
intelligence - and failed. In particular, their failure indicated that consciousness or "AI" cannot be
reduced to a simple set of 'rules'.
My point is this: if artificial intelligence 'never comes', then what would this tell us about the universe
we live in? Specifically, would it tell us that consciousness is the fundamental reality of all
existence? That atoms and such are merely an illusion - and that consciousness, not
matter, is the ultimate ground of all being?
I ask this here because I can't find this question discussed anywhere else...
