Yet, they are the very definition of lurking! Perhaps the negative connotations will cause them to no longer want to be lurkers. Perhaps you'd call them ghosts?

Snowbird...what were you most afraid of?

    lisa

What was I most afraid of? Appearing stupid and being laughed off the board. Crossing the line from simply being inactive to becoming the dreaded "A" word. JW's were my life for 30+ years, and it was hard to accept the fact that they were just another religion. I made a post here a month ago about crossing the Rubicon - which refers to taking an irrevocable step. Once I made that first post, I knew there was no possibility of my ever going back to the JW's. That was THE defining moment in my life.

    Thank you for asking.

On the TV show Babylon 5 a lurker was what people were called when they lived in down below ( the slums ). So why should we change it again?

Sorry to shoot this one down. This word all ready a meaning in our community. Inactive means one who is not going out in field service. Where as lurkers tend to be both active and inactive that respect.

How about "shypatents" = shy + participants.

Or shy-pants? Or just "readers" - as opposed to "posters"?
