You must see!! (page 2)

I CAN FINALLY SAY THAT I FOUND SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING ON THIS FORUM! I'm barely halfway through the film but I felt compelled to pause it and write this message. However, it does confirm some things that I had learned since leaving the JWs. This is evidenced by my new avatar. :)

Whoever posted this video on our forum should be rewarded for bringing something of intellectual value to this forum which can sometimes be sorely lacking in such.

I wish people would stop with the spurious parallels between Jesus and Horus. Things just get repeated over and over as if they were true, when they have no basis in reality, but a meme is a very easy thing to spread.

i watched this and I am downloading it to watch again. I have to say I am pretty blown away about the ideas presented.

Very interesting, though I don't quite get how the religious part fits? Seems a bit out of place in the over all scheme of things!

If you watched the entire documentary you'll notice that what they tried to do is to compare both religion and government like entities that, by fear, try to control everyones lives. In the case of religion, they are trying to say that christianity is nothing out of the ordinary, that it is just an extension of paganism, but tries to use their fear of hell, punishment to control the masses. The same with government. The comparisons between Jesus and other gods was meant to say that religion uses the figure of Jesus Christ the son of God as something divine, when in actuality, was another myth, a figment of humans imagination and that he probably didn't even exist. And also wanted to point out that religion uses the image a God that is there watching every move we make and that will strike us dead if we do not do what is told to us by the Commandments or Bible rules. Governments, as portrait in the documentary use the same method, by wanting to put chips in each of us to provide us with security when, in reality, is to be able to control every move we make.

By this I do not say I agree with everything that was shown, but just telling you why they spoke about religion and then government. They are just saying they are the same.

I wrote two things they said about government that could also be used against religion.

They said terror or terrorism is "FEAR USED TO KEEP SOCIETY TOGETHER". Does that sound similar to what religion does? They also said that governments "DO NOT WANT YOU TO THINK TO MUCH. THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO BE EDUCATED" Another familiar situation, isn't it?
