Watchtower circular reasoning, platitudes, coercion and sloganeering is enough to make anyone grayheaded after a while.

Arthur, your avatar shows that you don't have much hair another symptom of WT blather.
Actually, the techniques that the WT uses are not unique. Learning to read with an open mind and recognition that not everyone tells the truth...I will grant that some are deceived and repeat "lies" without knowing it but we are all responsible for making sure the information we give out is the best we have investigated ourselves.

Have you noted how the entire society seems to age in it's attitudes and behavior, as it's leadership ages? How many of these symptoms fit the regular congregation member? http://www.helpguide.org/mental/depression_elderly.htm
The following symptoms of depression are common in many older people:
- agitation
- anxiety
- persistent, vague or unexplained physical complaints
- memory problems; difficulty concentrating
- social withdrawal
- decreased appetite and weight loss or weight gain
- sleep disturbances: daytime sleepiness, difficulty falling asleep, multiple mid-night awakenings, early morning awakening
- irritability or demanding behavior
- lack of attention to personal care
- confusion, delusions or hallucinations
- feelings of discouragement or hopelessness
- sadness, lack of playfulness, inability to laugh
- loss of interest in normally pleasurable activities; in ability to feel pleasure
- prolonged grief after a loss
- loss of self worth
- reduced energy, fatigue
- abnormal thoughts, excessive or inappropriate guilt
- suicidal thoughts or attempts.
What is your favorite summer time activity besides going to the conventions (ha).
My garden. My daughter just won a $100 gift certificate to a famous greenhouse, so I just helped her plant almost a dozen perrenials in her garden. We kept at it until the sun went down, about 11 at night. Her garden looks lovely, now too.
I finally dragged my daughter away from her house-cleaning last weekend, to a local beach. We're going again this weekend, too, as we face another heat wave.

RULES & REGULATIONS
17) Not to be overlooked is the fact that those who have been serving Jehovah faithfully for decades have achieved something that is truly unique and that cannot be acquired in any other way-an unfading record of endurance. Jesus said: "By endurance on your part you will acquire your souls." (Luke 21:19) Endurance is essential for gaining everlasting life. Those of you who have "done the will of God" and have proved your loyalty by your life course can look forward to receiving "the fulfillment of the promise."-Hebrews 10:36.
I like that the WTS find endurance to be ''truly unique''. They know that either you endure to the end of your life or you drop out from false hopes. What choices do members have after some attending decades and ''the end'' is still not near? Only the old timers are hanging in. The teens and young adults are running as fast as they can.
Blondie Thank you for ''ENDURING'' thru this torture.

RULES®ULATIONS - 'The teens and young adults are running as fast as they can'.
Are you sure? I think those who are trapped in dead end jobs, pioneering and no education to speak of are unable to run as fast as they can.
As for the older JWs, they literally have no where to go to. Life at their fittest has long gone and they have no choice but to hang onto Watchtower Fantasy Land. I can think of very few 'gray headed' Jehovah's Witnesses who have the wits or the where withall to leave the cult. They really are trapped in quicksand and going down fast!!!

"If anything spiritual comes my way...."
Not much chance of that happening!

The title might lead the older witness to expect something helpful in this article . It is notable for what it does not say . Nothing about disappointments and delayed expectations. Nothing about enduring after failed promises.
Instead we get trite comments and experiences intended to produce guilt among the faithful if their health stops them getting regularly out in service. Paras 5 & 6 for example - tell that to the arthritic and sickly ones - how encouraging is that . It is like a firm holding up as an example its star performer and demotivating the others..
I will skip the yuk inducing "experiences" and hope that my elderly dub acquaintances are not too saddened by them
After a lifetime serving the Borg, not only do the promises seem as far away as ever , but they get pushed to achieve more and more - some reward!
