i was JUST talking about this with my wife. the magazines are so horridly written, and whenever 'worldly' sources are used, they're completely skewed to support the wtbts no matter what.

and the borg positions themselves with idiotic studies w/o researching who funds the studies and other motives and essentially ends up taking a political side...extreme example, the letter to germany commending them for keeping jewish people down since they were big business or something like that. a light example, jumping on the marijuana debate w/o any ounce of research or objectivity, and right under the republican's skirts.

another reason for the constant regurgitation of articles and information isn't only to continually brainwash, but b/c barely anyone has above a high school education....and i believe that's one of the reasons they crack down so hard on higher education, b/c the publications are written for non-thinkers by non-thinkers.

Failing to cite your sources, even if you haven't qouted directly from them, at my university (or any in the UK as far as I know) is an instant fail - it's classed as academic plagiarism.

    I love this !!

This would fit well, right under the generation change in the Awake mag.

How many times did you read the word clearly like you were suppose to understand it better, and didn't.

Maybe that is why people did not comment on my last post too many WTBTS quotes. LOL

The bibliography or references are always available upon request, they will then send you the extended versions of the articles you want. Just ask.

Yep, just reading the 'What does design in nature reveal' Watchtower article, what a blinder.

"A science professor notes that the general public "overwhelmingly, and sensibly, thinks that life was designed."" Page 6.

I used to edit them while we were studying them - I got to the point when I was crossing out so much passive text in every WBTS publication that it left it basically unreadable. That helped me realise how lame it is.

These men are "God's mouthpiece", "the recorder's inkhorn", "the faithful and discreet slave" so why would they need any stinking references to mere men who are condemned to Gehenna?

I know exactly why they do that. To make the articles look authentic. Cite "an expert" or "many people", and you add a measure of validity that wasn't there. Of course, they do not actually have any "experts" that agree, so they have to lie. What do they do to hide that lie? They are vague on purpose, instead of citing "doctor X", they cite "an expert". That way, it is impossible for anyone to check the references for accuracy.

And notice that quite a few of the articles are very poor or questionable in accuracy. The Bible ones are based on the New World Translation, which is blatantly inaccurate and full of intentional mistranslations. Secular items are also questionable. There was an article on sickle cell anemia in an Asleep that indicated that this disease made malaria more serious: anyone with a 10th grade education that passed biology knows that sickle cell anemia makes malaria more survivable, which is why the gene survives to this day. There is the aluminum disaster and the impossibility of space flight, among other blatant lies told by the Asleeps. Anyone with a high school background in science or who has taken freshman science classes in college would see the blatant inaccuracies.

My rule: If you see a citation that is vague and you cannot cross-check it in any publication that is supposed to guide you in your life, be extremely wary. If you cannot find sources specifically listed, you should Google the topic and check at least three independent sources on it. Not only you will get a better rounded education on that topic, but you will likely see a few blatant lies in the Asleeps.
