I really did not understand how the WTBTS donates blood machines in Europe, and yet I was told in the the USA that one could not even take their own blood.

The blood machines that were donated are to circulate and cleanse one's blood. Since the machine is viewed as an 'extension' of the body's circulatory system, JW's are allowed therapy that uses this machine.

It's different than autologous blood storage, where your blood is stored for future possible need. The JW's are not allowed to do that in either Europe or the USA.

The inconsistency comes in where the JW leadership allows use of other people's "blood fractions", which of course must be stored outside the body before they are transfused.

Sweet Pea has the right comment- short and sweet:

Is it just me, or this totally contradicting itself?
I'm so glad they've clarified matters!

I suppose the "out" for them is the definition of "take action."
We understand that DA and DF are really the same thing, but the
rank-and-file true believers can be told that DF is an "action" on the
part of the WTS and it's minions while DA is an "action" on the part
of the former member. The announcement and treatment afterward
    are consequences of his action.

Witnesses get disfellowshiped only if they PRACTICE the sin....if they have a couple of transfusions out of fear of life they don't get disfellowshiped if it is prolonged then maybe, I have never know any witness other than apostacy be disfellowiped for anything other than practice (willfull sin) or attitude against the organization. Not saying it is right, just pointing out what I know from my own experiences of myself and others.
