Do You Think "God" Cares For You At All?

There are times when I was a JW that I imagined he did, but that was mainly due to the conditioning ("inculcation" - the theocratic term) that I experienced there.

We were taught that his care is evident for us in the creation around us, and the "perfect" planet earth which was supposedly created just for us.

That's not enough. If God is really there, He/She/It is like a parent who gives lots of money for a child to go have fun with, but is emotionally distant.

I want to believe God cares but I find it hard too. Maybe I've convinced myself that I do have a relationship with God but he/she never helps me out or anybody I know.

Do you want the care of a mass murderer?

    LMAO at your responses!

Growing up, wanting to believe in God meant accepting that he cares but never showed that he did, or that he was even something other than a being I was taught I should believe in and lean on. I was conditioned to then think that those who are (supposedly) in my life, yet continually absent, actually do love me. Not a good thing.

I've always had a hard time building any kind of a relationship with "god"....I want to believe he is there...but I'm not sure what he thinks of humans, or our lives. I pray sometimes, hoping he'll hear me. Other than that, I don't know.

Do you have any relationship with God at all? Do you believe God cares about you? In the past I thought God cared and I used to pray. But I've been around the block enough times to know he's not interested, if he even exist. And if there is such a thing as free will, hes pretty limited in what he can do for us anyways. And I've had some of my worse experiences with his followers.

I am thankful for all that is good.

    I am truly appreciative.

But what about abuse? Little children that are mercilessly harmed? Defenseless women that are humiliated? Men that want to provide for their families and can't? Victims of torture? All the confusion about who or what He is?

God seems to be mysteriously absent.

    Well-hidden even.

    I gave up on Him.

And He gave up on me.

Interesting question and some good replies!

Does God care for/about me? - yes

Does He take care of me? - usually only within the constraints of free will although I personally have experienced what I would term as supernatural protection on occasions.

It may sound like He's pretty powerless - but I'd rather have life this way, with the good and the bad (either at my own or someone else's hand), than everyone being cloned to obey Him. That wouldn't be life, it would be mere existence - what's the point of that?
