Hey guys! Mr. flipper here! Thanks for all your responses. Great choices! You can even list honorable mentions if you like. Up to ten more is ok. I know how hard it's been for everybody to limit it to ten. So give me some more even if you've posted. Feel welcome! I'll add the listings all up in a few days and we'll see who you all thought was the most popular group ever, as voted by you the board!. Here's my honorable mentions. I'll try to keep it to ten. If you guys want to list more than ten, feel free! My #11-20.
11. Paul McCartney (solo) and with Wings
12. Red Hot Chili Peppers
13. Donovan
14. Van Morrison
15. Dire Straits
16. Jethro Tull
17. Buddy Guy
18. Santana
19. U2
20. Robert Cray
So these are my top 20. Mrs. Flipper enjoys the input too. She is going to post her top 20 later. Look forward to hearing from a lot of you. Interested to see what more groups and musicians are written down. Keep em' comin'. Thanks, Mr. Flipper P.S. Honorable mention Blondie and the Eagles .

i gotta say that i'm really happy to find this forum and i agree with most of you on a lot of stuff.
but, i sure don't understand everyone's taste in music here....wow, some horrid top tens.
props to the beatles, led zep, metallica (sans black album and those years, master of puppets baby!), sure hendrix, ok, nirvana even though they were ripping off the pixies and mudhoney and others.
the rest, i guess i'm at a huge disconnect with the lot of you....but i'm admitted music snob...a cynic and in the industry...so threads like this make me want to find comrads and people who surprise me w/ stuff i haven't thought about or heard...but, ouch.
i believe i saw dead milkmen in someone's top ten....that's reaching. i saw them live twice right around 1990 i think, pretty much one of the lamer bands to come out of that era and their opening acts were always so much better...people would clear out of the venue two or three songs into their sets, it was hilarious.
oh, i forgot props to abba, seriously, abba inspired a lot of bands in ways most people don't realize.
prince, pre-i'm-a-jehovahs-witness-would-you-like-to-live-forever-in-paradise, i also agree with...respect wise, but he produced a lot of crap as well......i'll also put some of michael jackson's work into the respect zone.
anyway, this thread is great and i disagree with most of you.
the rolling stones are an embarrassment, they were cooler than the beatles for a few years, then since the 70's found their formula and stuck with it to purchase their mansions....i respect yoko ono more than rolling stones, let's go play a stadium b/c they'll still sing to 'start me up' and i can get my plumbing fixed in my castle.

I said my ten favorite. =D
I like Led Zep, although I think they're overrated.
edit: monophonic, which were horrid? Haha, I bet your response will piss off a lot of posters. I'll admit I cringed at a few. =p

Hey guys and gals! Mr. Flipper here! Keep your answers comin' through the weekend and by Monday or Tuesday I'll add everything up and see which artist got voted the most popular! This is fun and revealingly interesting as Monophobic said. Hey Mono- I agree that some choices I don't like either, but remember music is a real personal and objective thing. What's good to one person might not be to the next person, we all have our tastes. so be patient, we are just havin' some fun here! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
