Google and Yahoo also keep records on the sites a surfer visits after using their search engines. This is a big confidentiality issue with them since they admit that if government agencies demand it they will have to reveal such information.

I don't look at any sites that I would be ashamed for anyone to know about. However there was a heck of a lot of stuff on my hard drive and when I had to get a friend to work on my computer because I lost all my files I was a bit embarassed. Luckily they are a pretty good friend and there was nothing they hadn't seen before.
I'd be much more worried if someone got hold of my cell phone and the files on there. They are just filthy.
