I have bought and sold a lot of college textbooks on amazon marketplace when I was in school FT. I buy books and music on Amazon. I have bought plane tickets and computers online. Most of my clothing I buy from Lands End online, sometimes I use the live chat feature to make sure I order the right size. I do most of banking and bill paying online.

Visa has a feature that generates one time use credit card numbers..virtual card numbers (linked to your actual card number) and that works very nicely. Credit card companies guarantee against fraud for anything over $50. Many banks are doing the same with debit cards.

I dont much like real life shopping.....took me 22 minutes to buy a suit a few years ago....and 5 hours to test drive, negotiate, and finance a new car on a Saturday at the dealer. (although I researched it online) Still have the car 5 years later...suit too. Although I do like Target,.,,,clean stores not cluttered like Wallyworld....and the eye candy (female employees and customers) are better than Kmart and Walmart

Books and cds from Amazon, art and craft supplies. I saved a lot of money buying from Amazon on books. Their prices are really good.

Has your online shopping steered you away from going into retail stores??

Yes. Definately. Especially bookstores. I went to books-a-million and find the books I want and then go home and buy them on Amazon. The other day I found one I wanted and it was 65.00. I went home and got it from Amazon for 38.00. I have purchased like 53 books in two years from them. I actually got my wedding dress on ebay for 150 bucks including shipping. Nice avoiding overpriced bridal shops for that ...

I couldn't begin to list the things I have purchased online. Even groceries ... but never shoes. Its just easier to have it show up at my door rather than going to the stores.

I no longer have to worry about slinking out of convenience stores trying to hide the brown paper bag containing my boobie magazines.

I shop as much as possible online. I don't like malls, have never enjoyed the process of shopping - wandering through stores looking at stuff. I even buy groceries online now and then, and I buy shoes online. I buy the same shoes all the time, know what brands, sizes, etc. I need. Saves money - now that gas is so expensive often the postage is cheaper than driving to a mall.

I've purchased a xm 2 go, makeup, new underclothes, makeup, hair (wigs) and accesories, shoes, and misc. things before. I check the history of the seller if it's Ebay first. Have had good experiences so far....

Minimus you asked if the INTERNET has kept us out of shopping malls. A definite yes for me. I avoid them like the plague.

We have purchased, airline tickets, books, clothing, certain gourmet foods, computer parts, insurance, etc. We have never had a problem and I love when the UPS truck pulls up, its like Christmas. I am not a QVC shopping person, but one day I was flipping channels and saw a room divider that was beautiful on TV...it was on shopmsnbc. I looked up their INTERNET site and studied it carefully, with trepidation I ordered.

It came a week later and was beautiful! I couldn't believe it! I have enjoy it every day. Have not ordered anything since off the television.
